I finally finished it too. I actually really dislike the incursion tactics and gameplay, not to mention the ludicrous story line; you're going to tell me the JTF doesn't have a single RPG or javelin launcher left? I got 3/6 sentry and 1/6 strikers. trying to save up for that sweet ilvl 204 M1A on the weekly vendor. Meh talents aside from the headshot damage, but its got the grip mod slot and higher base/headshot damage.

If any of you would like to give the incursion a go tonight, I've got time to play a few rounds. :)

    fucking wewt

    1.2 Updates

These are general bullet-points that have been stated about the 1.2 update, more detailed information about fixes and loot are further down.

-No Date on that yet, but it is in the testing phase
-There will be a new Daily Mission system that will fix the current problem with the missing dailies
-Testing is very important to not repeat the 1.1 problems and that it is rock-solid this time
-New Dark Zone 200 Bracket for Gear Score 200 players with higher-level enemies and better loot
-Dark Zone 200 Bracket has the best quality loot and good chance to get 204 items and 240 Gear Sets
    -There will be 3 Dark Zone Brackets: -160 / 160+ / 200+
-Dark Zone 200 Bracket will only have High End Division Tech
-Dark Zone 200 Bracket will have 32 – 34 NPCs
-Open World / PVE will also get an update with more activities (currently unknown)
-New Dark Zone Activities (still unknown)

    1.2 Confirmed Fixes

    -Reckless fixed
    -One is None
-Mission Doors not Opening after Matchmaking
-Base of Operation Wings not activating

Sometimes bug fixes need a client-side update, and while all fixes that can be done server side are pursued when they are possible, sometimes it just needs a client-side patch. This is why they put so many fixes in the 1.2 update.

    1.2 Loot

-They made some changes to get people away from crafting but as of now, they are only half-way there
-High ends drops are more common now but the quality is still low and it is still difficult to get good quality loot - especially in the Dark Zone
-The whole Idea behind 1.2 is to be more generous with loot in terms of quality and quantity
-Looting should become the main-source of your equipment and not crafting
-There will also be less Gear-Mod drops
-Better and more weapons drops (because they can't be recalibrated)
-Hard Mode / Challenge Missions and Incursions will drop better loot, so that the activity is more rewarding
-All Dark Zone Brackets get better loot, so that you can gear up your char better
-More Gear Set drops from the Supply Drops in the Dark Zone

    1.2 Balancing

    -No Nerfs / just buffs
-Balance Weapon Talent is broken – It should only give you a buff when you switch from hip-fire to shoulder. Right now you get always the balance buff – but this will be fixed. This way it will be most useful with bolt-action-rifles
more details are unknown at this point.

Its like I'm watching the shitty release of Diablo 3 to the awesome state its in now in fast-forward with the divison. I enjoy the game but I hope we get some actual content in the next patch. The first incursion was a big letdown, imo.

agreed. seems like they've taken notice to that "DIII: Road to Redemption" GDC vid that's been all over their boards and subreddit, haha. easy to see where to go with fixing your game when another high-profile one had really similar issues. i'm hopeful for the next content drop, i just hope it's more like the missions and less like the current incursion. endurance horde-mode does not for good content make. once you're decently geared and have a pointman who can call the shots (ie, anyone who knows what waves shotguns come on) it's not terribly challenging, just kinda tedious. plus the time commitment is a pita when you might draw wife or kid aggro...

i'm really looking forward to 1.2 though, the 200+ DZ sounds like just about everything i could've hoped for at this point

i haven't stopped playing and haven't ever had issues finding pug groups for missions if dudes aren't online or finding folks to fight in the DZ. i haven't played a ton the past couple weeks just because life but 1.2 was a fantastic patch, totally moving the game in the right direction

    - clearly aiming for gearsets that add unique utility instead of just OMGMOARDPS
    - the 201+DZ is fun as hell. the NPCs are tough, pvp fights last longer with higher armor cap and no more everybody just using 4p sentry with SMGs, and the lewt is actually worthwhile. i've found 2-3 really great SMGs (including a couple MP7s) and 2 excellent shotguns
    - shotguns are legit weapons with the hardcaps for CH% finally getting into place. also finally trying out a 4p striker set with a great brutal/deadly/destructive sasg i found as each pellet counts for a hit to ramp up the damage. it's good times

they've also confirmed already that with 1.3 our stash sizes will finally be increasing (yay!) and EVEN BETTER! that they're giving base buffs to all weapon types with the 1.3 rebalancing (like crit for SMG or HS damage for MMR). hang on to any good ARs or LMGs you find, haha

so while i haven't been playing regularly since june, i'm still following the game pretty closely. 1.4 sounds like it'll fix a lot of the issues that keep piling on causing the fun-level to spiral out of control. obviously until it drops next month we won't know for sure, but i figured i'll take it upon myself to post updates in case you guys don't make regular trips to the subreddit!

great write-up with insights into the approach to developing goals for 1.4 from a member of the community elite task force massive put together and flew out to their studio earlier this month
    www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/52hvtz/my_elite_task_force_summary_and_impressions/

    Update 1.4
    General topics

    Release date:
    • Still for October, without a specific date.

    PTS
    • As announced, technical test and public launch were postponed.
    • After the discussion with the ETF, they realized, they wanted to add specific features to the PTS build so that players can give feedback about those features.
    • Is planned to be launched next week – but that is not definitive yet

    Learnings
Time to Kill / Time to be killed
    • They really wanted to identify the core problems with the game to solve that, before they move ahead with more content
    • They collected immense amount of data and put them into graphs and analyzed them

    Results
    • The enemies in endgame are too bullet-spongy and deal way to much damage
    • There is no build diversity – when you do not have a very specific build you are not effective in endgame.
    • You also need specific Skills / and Gear Sets.
    • That means, there is a very limited amount of good builds and that is not what an RPG game is about, there needs to be variety and multiple ways to build an effective character.
    • That makes the game very difficult – not only for solo but also for unoptimized groups.

Time to kill and Enemy Scaling
    • There is a huge difference between 1-30 and in the endgame.
    • While the time to kill is pretty linear in 1-30 and increases exponentially as soon as you hit endgame

    Best gear vs. optimized gear
    • While the time to kill for 1-30 with best/random and min-maxed equipment is close and linear, there is a huge difference in endgame between best/random gear and min-maxed gear

    Stats

    Gear mods
    • Level 12: mods contribute 6% to the damage
    • Level 30: mods contribute 40% to the damage – they are a critical part of the builds (and that is even a low number, because it does not include weapon mods)

    Skills
    • Level 30: Skills contribute 78% to the damage (when you cap electronics it is even more)

    Takeaways
    • The game is balanced for the best possible build and since there is a huge damage gap between the best equipped and worst equipped player – the game is therefore very difficult for the average player.
    • The NPCs are too powerful
    • The difference between the best-equipped player and the average equipped player should not be that big.
    • Gear mods are too powerful in endgame and have a too big impact on the build
    • Skills are too powerful
    • SmartCover and Pulse are the most used skills

    Update 1.4 changes

    General changes

    • Fixing enemy health and damage post level 30 so that it is linear and not exponential
    • Time to be killed in comparison: Now it takes 2.1 seconds to be killed by a standard Riker – it will be 6 seconds in 1.4.
    • Time to kill in comparison: Now it takes, for an unoptimized build / unmodded ACR, 3.8 seconds to kill a Riker – it will be 2.1 seconds

    Difficulty progression

Now you can play normal/hard mode missions without big problems – but the gap between hard and challenge mode is huge and you basically need challenge mode gear to even play that content.

Reworking the difficulty scaling in endgame
    • Greater granularity
    • Even transition to endgame not huge difficulty spikes
    • Better loot and mission rewards
    • linear equipment progression
    • Support solo players
    • RPG/Shooter experience back
    • Clearer path through endgame, what to do, where to get better gear and how to improve your character.

    New World Level
    • Players can now select the World Level when they hit level 30.
    • You are able to set the level of the NPCs and the loot to a specific level.
    • Named roamers are back in the open-world (Bullet King lives!) and now you can farm open-world again
    • The World Level can be changed at any time
    • There will not be level 34 / 35 NPCs
    • The World levels will be unlocked as you progress

The World Level will affect the enemy levels of:
    • Missions
    • Open World
    • Incursions
    • Underground

    World Level impact
    • Tier 1 (Level 30 enemies – GS 163 loot (rare 182)) – no challenge mode
    • Tier 2 (Level 31 enemies – GS 182 loot (rare 204)) – challenge mode is unlocked
    • Tier 3 (Level 32 enemies – GS 204 loot (rare 229))
    • Tier 4 (Level 33 enemies – GS 229 loot ) – heroic mode in Incursions is unlocked

Normal / Hard / Challenge / Heroic selection
    • Challenge-mode will not be scaled to four players per default, so you could play it solo now
    • When you are in a group, the enemies still scale up to the number of players.
    • Elite NPCs are now smarter as before – so they will not be just bullet sponges but move faster and more tactical.
    • Heroic will only be available for Incursions
    • This difficulty will not increase enemy level – but the amount of loot you get

    Gear Score Changes

    • Max Gear Score will be 229, so Gear Sets have the same as the highest possible high-end
    • High-End items will be more important now, since they are at the same level as Gear Sets

    Loot
    • All enemies are able to drop the best loot of that Tier. But of course trash mobs have a less chance than a named enemy.
    • Trash-mobs in Incursion are not included in that.

    Matchmaking
    • You matchmake with people on your World Level
    • You can also play with players on a higher World Level and get the loot-drops from there (power leveling)
    • You can also join players in a lower World Level to help them out

    Dark Zone / PVP
    • Dark Zone selects the World Level for you
    • PVE Dark Zone: they are listening, but there will not be specific Dark Zone Changes in 1.4
    • The World Level also applies to the Dark Zone
    • The Dark Zone Bracket is still calculated based on your gear score

they're serious about fixing this game and making it fun to play again. i will DEFINITELY be playing come 1.4, setting my open world to Tier 4 and fucking getting after it! i love a good loot grinder. will they fix everything with this first go? certainly not, but it's enough for me that they're clearly very serious about making the division great again

i can't imagine anybody is looking to play currently, but if you are so inclined, don't worry AT ALL about grinding gear at this point. everything is getting a balance pass and we don't know what things will look like in a month. the best possible thing you could do is level alts to 30. not only will it provide a great insight into the gameplay experience they're aiming for (since 1-30 feels great), but once 1.4 hits and we all strike out to get our lewts you'll have a lot more raining down being able to run weeklies for multiple toons.

The degree of enemy bullet sponginess was the biggest gameplay turn off for me. Glad to hear they are sincerely listening and addressing issues.

likewise - the health/damage scaling for NPCs was completely out of control. they're planning for public PTS to open up next week, i'm looking forward to seeing how things will shake out for it's future

So patch 1.5 brought in Survival Mode (As DLC). and a bunch of others things that further improve the gameplay. Survival Mode is probably the best 'Battle Royale' style of competitive game I've played yet. Feels like how The Division was always meant to be played, imo. They struck a good balance with survival, gearing up, fighting off enemies/players, and providing you with some limited direction.

I took a break from studying to play a match earlier today and actually managed to not only extract, but extract first and get a 'Master' score. If anyone wants to see how it plays, I uploaded a video of the full match to youtube:

Would be really cool to get a party of 4 going in this in PvP mode once finals are over! I know a few of us played together back when the game was new.

i still play this game every day. love loot grinding games like this and each update has really been a huge improvement over it's initially rocky start. if you guys played in the beta but never pulled the trigger they're doing a free weekend over the next few days and i'd encourage you guys to pop back in and check it out

    http://blog.ubi.com/division-play-free-weekend-pc/

loot absolutely rains from the skies and you can get to level 30 really quickly if you're having a geared player run you through high-level content while you cower in the back gobbling free XP. i'll be on intermittently throughout the weekend, add me on uplay "pidian." (with the period, wouldn't let me do it without)

I doubt this is still on anyone's radar.. but apparently the game is a significantly better place today than it was a year or two ago.

If we get enough people playing, i could be convinced to play this... but only if i get some guarantee from people we won't drop it after a month and never play it again.
