These are my two that are worth showing. I've got a shitty Windlass Rapier from way way back, but it's a POS, as is the claymore I bought at a highland games. Bottom is a riding sword. Fucking love the feel of it and the balance. Balance point almost 2 inches behind the guard. A reproduction from a blade found in Oakeshott's books. XVI swords Top is a family heirloom on the mother's side... god, I can't believe I don't remember it exactly, but I think it was a Great-uncle who brought it (and spears and daggers and masks and all sorts of things) back from... the Phillipines? Chris, do you remember? Has some massive nicks in the blade where it made edge on edge contact with other weapons. Has a "feel" to it that's hard to put in to words, even with it being warped and rusted.
Used to have a battle ready katana with a full tang and true differential temper. Blade was handmade. Cost $375 and was my high school graduation present. Then one of my step siblings went into my room while I was at work, took it outside to hit stuff, and broke it against a rook. I still have the matching wakazashi.
I gave up a lot of my weapons when I stepped down, but I still maintain my Galloglaigh sword: It's a claymore with an Irish ring pommel and an English downturned guard. As a slayer is warrantied for life in 'actual use', altough only a few have ever broken (2 due to manufacturing defects, 2 to horses). It's beautifully balanced and a big-handed lad like me can use it one, two, or half handed. I gave it to my brother when I stepped down, but that was the best damn axe I've ever owned. Danish style (which was ok for a Galloglaigh), it has a nice rounded-square style haft and a beatiful head. The edge was full on sharp, so it was never used as anything but a parade piece. I used to love parting crowds with it. Viking polearm: I got it primarily because it looks eerily similar to a sketch of some Galloglaigh sparth axes a English solider/chronicler drew. Looked great, but turned out to be butter-steel. It definitely got attention and could be thrown like a spear when you were feeling like it. I also have my Skien knife, which was one of a two set that was forged from the first guildmaster's broken starslayer claymore. It's ugly but functional. I also have a giant Rondell I would use for assianation attempts when a priest (Jesuits had a reputation for that in England, having actually attempted it twice and encouraged other to do so more than a few time)
I've been fighting for over 11 years now. I specialize in polearms, epee fencing, and Sword & Board. I'll take picture of my "inventory" when I get a chance.
