Okay, I think I got the pricing down, if you could do a double check on this for me Magnus.

Buying a Pack Hunter, which is a Clan Mech. 30 Tons

    Base Price: 3,206,840
Sending in for an Overhaul. This Overhaul will cost 900,000 (30 tons * 30k).

During this Overhaul, all of the following will happen:
    1. Add Enhanced Imaging Displays (Free Lancer equipment)
    2. Swap Armor to Ferro: 300,000 cost (30 tons * 10k), no additional cost due to being in for Overhaul
    3. Add ChemJel Armor: 200,000 cost, no additional cost required due to being in for Overhaul
    4. Add Lancer Power Armor: 400,000 cost, no additional cost required due to being in for Overhaul
    5. Add Torso Cockpit: No cost, no additional cost required due to being in for Overhaul
    6. Add Neural Interface: 2,000,000 cost, no additional cost required due to being in for Overhaul
    7. Engine Upgrade and up-tonning to 35 tons: 2,700,000 cost (30 tons * 30k * 3 for XL engine), no additional cost required due to being in for Overhaul
    8. Clan Tech tax: 600,000 (30 tons * 20k) due to working with Clan Tech, charged once due to being a single Overhaul.
Total Cost for Mech and Overhaul: 10,306,840 C-Bills

Gonna start working on a version of the Pack Hunter in MegaMek Lab as an Omni that is compliant while you look that over.

Looks good except you overcharged yourself a little. Since the cost is applied at the time before the upgrade is done rather than after, the Engine + up-ton upgrade will be (30 tons * 30k * 3) = 2,700,000 :). Same goes for the Clan Tech tax (30 tons * 20k) = 600k.

Okay, so I have plenty left for a second Alpha. Magnus, with the Neural Interface add on in place, would my Handler be able to pilot this using the Enhanced Imaging Displays only, if need be, as a backup?

Probably best to save the remaining 2-3 mil? I'd like to pick up some Battle Armor for SpecOps, if you have any recommendations there. Or is the Lancer Armor 'good enough'?

    Kinda digging the Afreet!

Ooof, not a particularly auspicious history there... http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Operation_ICE_STORM

As for the lancer armor, it classifies as PA(L), but does not contain any sensors. Presumably it also does not have stealth armor, either. For most PA(L) suits standard infantry small arms seem to be the most they can carry, though a few have modular AP weapon mounts. Armor protection varies depending on design, with most able to withstand small arms fire well, and the more heavily armored (~450kg) ones able to take hits from support weapons.

From digging through TacOps, Total Warfare, and StratOps, I can't find any specific rulesets for PA(L), so either it's buried in another supplement I don't have, or it just functions like other battle armors with specific abilities according to its record sheet.

It just means that the design was worth using, not just by the designing Clan but by two others

You're spending 3.9 million C-bills... on a 557k suit of battle armor. Why not just get one of the Void variants?

Well, it isn't as good, and that price is for 5? I wouldn't trust the MegaMekLab price either. That's just from the copy/paste. I threw that in to show what I'd built. :p

Crap, forgot to include the Neural Interface 2mil cost in my Pack Hunter, that puts it up to 10,306,840 C-Bills per.

I think I wanna save up my remainder for a Stooping Hawk. Magnus, how do the existing OmniMechs work for variants? Pretty much all of them have weapons in their torso slots for one thing... Also, a lot of them have weapons in their variant packages that I wouldn't have access to based on Reputation. I'm GUESSING how it works is this: I buy a particular mech at a particular variant package. Say, a Stooping Hawk C. I have access to the C variant now. I only have access to the other variants that I have the Reputation for?

A potential goal point for a Stooping Hawk? The 'big brother' of the Pack Hunter Alpha. Essentially just an up-sized version. 20 tons heavier, almost identical. Shitload more expensive, few tons more armor, and that's it, hahahaha. Not really worth the cost at all for the investment. Pack Hunter Alpha is a way better design rather than trying to get a 55 tonner to do a 35 tonner's job.

    EDIT:
Another question. Sick of me yet? How do Heat Sinks work in the 'no use of Torsos in the OmniMech world'? Can we put heat sinks in torsos, as long as we aren't adding weaponry? Cause arm and head slots sure are limited.

Stoop Kid is a great mech. I was looking at it for a while but didn't have the funds for what I wanted. I know that if the engine is large enough you get 'free' slots in there for heatsinks so don't forget about those. I know you get 4 at that size but I'm uncertain about the fifth. How much money did you start with again? I'm going to take a look at some mechs and build an insane thing given your level of funds.

Also how the hell did your total to that come to 19million? Shouldn't be anywhere near that expensive.

Cause XL BRAH. It's a god damn massive engine. 385 XL. Plus Endo and Ferro. It's essentially an Assault Mech without the heavy duty frame or weaponry.

I'll probably end up leaving the engine untouched when I finally get one and do something more sane, leaving my Pack Hunter as my speedster.

    Try the Rabid Coyote.

Starting price at 6 million, clan 55 ton but not an omni like the stoop. You can do all the crazy shit you did with the stooping hawk, 7/11/7 easy, but insert a torso cockpit as well, and then convert it to an omni variant if you still feel like it afterwards.

You can also consider MASC for 7/14/7 but you'd need to drop the streaks... which would probably mean dropping the flamer at that point for another imp. medium laser to keep your short range punch. It comes with ECM installed and the LAMs will fit as well. Stock has it at 12 dbl heatsinks which should let you fire the heavy medium lasers, but that LAM will run it hot if it goes off.

Or you could go 7/11/7, 2 imp heavy medium lasers, 2 atm-6's for range with a ton of ammo, and have the LAMs and the ECM. 16 double heatsinks though would risk running hot again if the LAMs went off. You'd need to use only one ATM6 in tandem with the Heavy medium lasers once you got close enough if there's an enemy missile presence.

Okay, I think I just found something good, but I have to go to class. I'll play around with the design tonight when I get back and share it with you.
