Lightningflash Flintspark is the debut album from Poland's Ignu. The deep, slappy bass line rumbles against a proto-tinged psychedelic flair with shades of acidic 70s underground. Riffs baked with sun fried fuzz distort above the land called ‘Warsaw’ as a disturbingly pleasant groove fills the stage with a killer Polish accent. The way the clean guitar intro to Checkered Room kicks into some heavy fuzz and groove grabbed my attention and by the time I heard the intro to Snow, via the Graveyard meets 1000mods boogie of Kwiat Paproci, I knew there was something special going on here. All killer, no filler right up to the epic finale Endless Rift. Don't hang around. Buy this now! Review by Bucky Brown and Jonny Pirie
Comprised of six songs tracked live in the trio’s native Córdoba at 440 Estudio, the self-titled debut album from Argentine trio Iah – guitarist Mauricio Condon, bassist Juan Pablo Lucco and drummer José Landín – would seem destined to catch the attention of South American Sludge Records if it already hasn’t. It's unpretentious heavy psychedelics and edge of rock-minded thrust on opener “Cabalgan los Cielos” and the early going of “Eclipsum” more than justify their intention to spread the word as much as possible. Set to a balance of post-rock guitar, the bassline of “Stolas” carries a progressive inflection, and the fuzz that emerges halfway into second track “Ouroboros” shows a desert rock influence that blends well into its surroundings as a part of a richer sonic entity. A nascent but palpable chemistry at work, IAH’s IAH could portend expansive ideas to come, and one hopes it does precisely that. Review from The Obelisk
It's a little weird feeling when you meet some no-name musician at some no-name bar show and years later come to learn they are super famous. It's happened to me twice now.
Who? (had to look him up) Nah... I'm referring to Paramore and Ellie Goulding. I met them both before they were famous. I've been to more live shows than I can count now. Actually, Paramore was not at a "bar". They were a side stage act at a music festival, but no one had heard of them so they only had a crowd of maybe 20 people. I have pictures taken with them somewhere.
Cool! I love both those artists, alas haven't seen either. Scott Bradlee is the guy who does Postmodern Jukebox - fantastic if you like jazz covers of weird and wacky stuff. I have a soft spot for eclectic music.
Then you should look up(if you haven't listened to already(I might have already mentioned these)) Caravan Palace Deluxe Igorrr(Heavy EDM/Metal)
This... this is a nightmare. It has to be a nightmare. I just have to wake up... ... oh God why can't I wake up?
Went to a Queens of the Stone Age concert yesterday, small club, was like 5 ft from the front. Sweet show even though their left amp kept kicking in and out
