This is why I don't use a paid service. I don't know how much you've spent/how long it's been operating, but if it doesn't work, maybe look at something like Avast!, AVG(or any other free, but well reviewed software)

Norton is disgusting. Not quite as disgusting as mcafee though.

Glad you're back up and running; Win 10 updates tend to break more than fix.

Just my 2cents: No antivirus is 100% because they're all reactive. Once a new virus or exploit is identified, then a definition is pushed out to block it. In my experience the big name AV programs, like McAfee and Norton, are mostly bloatware that slow your PC down and cause other problems. When working in the help desk probably 8 out of the 10 computers brought in had either McAfee or Norton running, complete with a virus and other nonsense. They just don't seem to be worth the price tag IMO. Your best bet is to ensure you're running a firewall (the built-in windows one works fine), find some AV with a low footprint (again the built-in one works fine), use ad-blocking plugin for browsing, avoid java if possible, and back your machine up regularly.

    This was windows 7 pro.

    No stupid stuff

I have another computer for that.
