bomber loadout on bogue. put up 2 dive bomber squadrons and 1 torpedo squadron. I feel like in the bomber loadout the dive bombers are more accurate then they are in the fighter loadout. and most of those 9 fighters shot down were by my rear gunners. not my carrier.

Yea, it's clear this game is not about historical accuracy but instead just having Terran, Zerg and Protoss trees if you will.

Not saying it's a bad thing either.

I can't even find a paper design that the Hindenburg is based off of in game. it's clearly not the world war 1 era hindenburg cruiser. or that class of cruiser (derfflinger?).

I thought it read somewhere that they're not really modeled after specific ships but rather along ship types and classes, I suppose names are there for personification as opposed to "pre-dreadnought steam light cruiser"

Also, historically the nations are all wrong. They've made the trees as such: "nation A has mostly light cruisers, nation B has mostly battlecruisers" etc. In reality there would be a lot more diversification within nations but now the nations act as if ship classes though they also lump together other ship sizes. Eg. Nation A has light cruisers from late 19th century to 1945 (or so) and heavy destroyers.

While lumping DD, CC, BB and CV sizes together by certain style (light, armored, heavy,..) doesn't immediately make sense it's a nice way to lump things in game terms. Nations could be called whatever but they're essentially named after real ones for same reason as ships are not named for the general classes they represent.

I find it funny that the US carriers end their fighters with a korean war jet.

F-86? Introduced 1949, just in time to escort B-29's against Me 262's on their mission to nuke Berlin.

it's kinda sad when a bogue with 2 DB and 1 TB outdo a zuiho with 1 fighter 2 TB and 1 DB.

though i'm noticing i'm getting aircraft off more often. I think most are launching individual squadrons with f i only do this when there are no enemy ships visible (so really only at the beginning of a match). i think most people don't realize (and i've never seen it mentioned anywhere) that once your planes are landed and reloading you can designate a target and they will take off automatically as soon as they are ready. even if their target dies before they are airborne they will still take off because that is in their order queue

Still working toward my first carrier... I find battleships boring, so I do'nt like playing them, but carriers are locked behind them!!! Damn you battleships!

CVs and DDs are way more fun.

US or japanese carriers? japanese i can't say anything on other than squadrons are smaller but the carriers are faster (at least the first two are). langley and bogue are both in the 16 knots category. but the bogue has a nice upgrade (upgrades where the consumable area is) that increases AA range by 20%. so those 5 inch guns will start shooting at aircraft at 6 km. which is beyond the drop range (even the automatic) for torpedo bombers. i am more than halfway to the independence. i want it so much. and all the carriers after the bogue would have access to that upgrade.

quick check. the japanese and american torpedoes on the planes seem to do comparable damage but the japanese torpedos are faster and have a better range. american dive bombers seem to do more damage. i think americans have a slight edge in fighters too. at least in damage.

Americans, going up DDs in Japanese tiers, CVs and BBs in America. Hence American carriers also.

as i play in the bogue more i'm noticing less and less of the 2 fighter flight bogues. I'm betting its because people are going "okay i shot all the enemy planes down and i'm pretty much useless with only one DB flight."

lol. just had a match where i was 1 plane shy of clear skies. in my carrier. my dive and torpedo bombers only shot 5 or 6 planes down. the rest were all my carrier.

hail to the king baby. also dodged alot of torps from torp bombers.

didn't have any fighters and most of those 41 aircraft shot down were by carrier. I was in the bomber bogue again and fought the 2 enemy carriers to a standstill. It was me against two carriers. next run would have gotten the hosho. and i think all of the bombers were gone. but ran out of time.

and just noticed american air torpedos go up to 3.7 km range.

japanese are 2 km from tier 5 to tier 10.

I'm pumped for the german line, since it seems like everything they make is covered in torpedo launchers

Also, fast and agile but less durability.
