By the way the update servers went down as I was 99% through updating it.

4.1 Update! WOOT! Ranked battles (teams with up to 7!)




..........finished watching the video. Nerf bat warning to IJN CV's and DD's and USA BB Wyoming. Omaha gets a buff, All DD's get a AAA buff. USA DD's get a smoke screen buff. Still, very cool stuff.

 

I was about to buy a couple of extra slots.. but...

Then I was puzzled by NA and EU having separate accounts!

So, money spent on NA is not money on EU account and vice versa.

Luckily NA server does seem to have relatively low pings, though just today it was warping a little bit for me, but not a lot.

Concerned.

 

I know they accounts arn't linked yet to tanks and airplanes thus why it's doubloons and not gold. I don't if that means purchases on one account will effect others though when they do get linked or if it's just your gold amount will be 'shared' on all accounts (see the same amount of gold across all the games) so you don't have to buy separately for warships, planes, or tanks.

 

Yea but what about EU vs. NA accounts? I had to create a separate NA account.

 

bought my pheonix last night. haven't tried it yet. But I noticed in my st louis I do better overall if I mostly fire salvos even though I can do the staggered fire (or whatever it's called) where you just hold down the mouse.

 

I think they are all linked by email. so if it's different emails it probably won't get linked at all?

 

No, I as earlier talking about how it didn't recognize my username when I downloaded the NA client for WoS, I had to create another account with the same email after upon trying to recover password it said that no such account exists. Also I tried before that and I could log on to EU site but not NA site.

So I believe they're pretty much separate accounts but I didn't bother to reinstall EU client as well just to try out if there'd been any ship progress.

Just worried that if I ever want to try EU I won't have anything on it - even none of the money.

 

odd. because I have done the different clients with ghost recon online and the same account (email address) worked on both NA and EU client. Maybe the client for world of warships is so new that they haven't really done any of that? though I don't know why it'd work in one client and not the other.

 

Yea, it was the same with both the clients and the website itself. You can try accessing eu website with your account.

 

Wargaming utilise different accounts. If you create an account for NA it's NA only and will not work on EU

 

That certainly complicates it imho for spending money vs. playing with friends. It would be nice to have that money available if I ever wanted or needed to play on better pings locally or if I want to play with my brother or others from here..
Hum.

Besides that I really like how at start you literally get upgrades after every battle and that it's really fast to get started with initial ships.

By the way I haven't yet managed to lose a single battle but I still haven't gotten 4 kills either. I really, really like this game. Like, I tried WoT - once. Didn't really do much. I guess it's too early to tell but I don't think I had this much fun this consistently probably ever in MWO. Also I had no qualms about spending some money here until that NA/EU separation raised it's head. But even then it doesn't seem like such a big deal to just stick with NA and buy stuff there. The nature of this game also reduces the need to really low pings and I haven't had any issues so far with that.

Or maybe I've just been under a lagshield all this time?

I thought that today I was in for my first ever defeat - I was running in the right flank with my Chester, I had it fully upgraded and was running with 2 other cruisers that were towards center. We spotted an enemy cruiser and I turned a bit further to the right flank so as to fire it with everything I had. I got it into a pretty banged up condition but it escaped behind an island - and then I noticed another target dead ahead. I started engaging him and again further turning away from my team since I was already firing with left side's guns. He was steaming at me and I was gunning him, before I made anything of it I spotted two more cruisers now ahead of me.

At this point I realized that I had overplayed my hand and was going to get sunk as they all shelled at me. I took a route that led me from between the enemies leaving 1 cruiser to my left that I kept engaging and the other two were to my right further away. My ship was on fire as I was mauled when I pushed through the enemies and managed to sink the ship to my left. I managed to get into a cover with only roughly 15% of hull left as I spotted the first cruiser that had fallen back behind an island - I resumed what I had started and sunk it. One of the two ships was sunk by friendly torpedoes and I started taking out the last one while a friendly DD was taking it's attention - and I got my third kill.

It was weird. I shouldn't have survived that but I did and came out with 3 kills.

 

kept working on st. louis till I could get the south carolina before i even look at the pheonix. even though i own it.

 

Opinions on HE shells vs AP shells? Usage?

 

For battleships, AP all time, unless you overpenetrate anything that's left. As a DD, dont bother with them, as cruiser, like Trevnor said - for other cruisers and lighter armored battleships.

 

I've started using AP when the range is greater than 6 kilometers. at least on armored targets. under 6 I use HE. doing that I did 60% damage from my st louis on a south carolina and got the kill. might have done 70% of the damage. it was me and 2 other cruisers against 2 battleships.
