seriously enamored of this dwarves meets sims admittedly influenced by firefly game. its in very playable alpha. even reminds me of theme hospital a bit. but then you need to run out at save your colony from raiders with guns. http://rimworldgame.com/ simple ass graphics, but they work, cause they're clean and let so much else go on in background. The game designers tout the AI development, haven't played it enough honestly to say whether its as cutting edge as describes or not.
Been playing this off and on since Christmas. While it is fun, I would say there are a few issues that detract from it. The fear/happiness loyalty mechanic is a bit dodgy, as you can make them shift from one to the other so fast it's difficult to have dissent in the ranks. The raiders are also pretty easy to beat once you get blasting charges, if you design a proper trap room. AI progression is pretty good so far, but I think the AI needs more tools to play with than just weather and raiders. All in all a pretty fun game, and I'd say worth the money.
I wouldn't say Dwarf Fortress in space, since you're on a planet all the time. But there are many similarities. The colonists have names, thoughts, characteristics, etc. I love the Firefly-esque feel to it.
