in that situation Lar... you need a use your team mates AA capabilities... lead the enemy fighters over a group of BB and allow them to chew them apart with their AA guns.. its a real PITA, but doing that once or twice will decimate the enemy fighter squadrons.

 

I do do that. But its when i have to send my torp bombers on a torp run. Because of guns range. That 10 or so km gap.

and russian dd tech tree line out. tier 1 dd doesn't even have torps.



from the video it sounds like fast, powerful guns, and most hitpoints. not OP at all.

if those numbers are stock equipment then the tier 2 beats a elited sampson in every way. sounds like for the most part even the US will have superior torps to the russians.

 

right now I have 1 tier 4 (clemson) and 3 tier 5s (new york, bogue, and omaha)

 

Eh, DDs with guns aren't really that great IMO. Unless they have some super amount of HP, DDs go down quick when they're spotted, and firing guns means auto-spotted. If you want to use guns may as well use a cruiser.

 

Honestly, Im more concerned about their torps, that t3 is said to have launchers capable of firing almost 3 times in 1min. Next one is also described as possesing quick firing torps, tier2 has third biggest launchers of any DD in game - 3 triple tubes, more have only top tier ones. This means shitload of torps. Depending of their and torpedoes speed they could just spam anything out of water with ease...

 

if their torps are weak, let them spam them, I laugh at american destroyers, who torp spam, I'm like please turn to torp me, I'll take one of your spread of 3, while you can't even weather my one...

 

while i am a torp DD driver... i do see the benefit of a Gun DD... it, in the right hands, is a devastating ship. it hunts enemy DD's.. it spots enemy ships.. and once an engagement is started... it joins in as a distraction and a rudder/prop/turret breaker with its HE rounds.

Fast DD's are also perfect as long range plane spotters , allowing the Allied CV's to redirect their bombers/fighters as needed.

 

Essentially anything goes as long as they don't end up having "wrong" nations, eg. "I chose X nation" -"well, good luck with that, it's the worst".

DD vs. DD is usually resolved with guns, not torps.

 

yeah. even with 3 tubes a launcher i actually almost always go with a narrow spread for american DD's because of the low damaged per torp. sure accuracy is down then but more damage or a kill then.

 

but japanese guns suck on DD's. but yeah.

 

I want to be the only player with a missile destroyer.

 

Just ran a Match in my Wicks (American DD)... as i moved to ambush an enemy DD (there were a total of 11 DD's in this match)... i moved into the capture point... my cruiser/BB Allies were still a considerable distance behind a Island, i opened fire on the enemy DD.. it was a Glorious fight... we traded shots back and forth.. i managed to avoid most of his fire while he was forced to eat my HE rounds one after another... then a enemy Cruiser moved into range.. i suddenly had to start dodging for real...
About this time my first Cruiser ally rounded the island and (damn him) finished off the enemy DD... we both then turned to engage the enemy cruiser... i popped smoke and engaged engine boost... when the enemy cruiser started his attack on our cruiser.. i made a mad dash towards him to get in range for a torp shot....a Enemy BB popped up on radar as he rounded the otherside of the Island... Damn the gunfire.. i closed.

The enemy BB opened fire on my ally.. so i decided to provide a distraction... gunfire ensued... the BB and the Cruiser both turned towards the Allied Cruiser about 2 KM apart from each other.. i juked right and fired a single torp salvo at the cruiser.. then left and a single salvo at the BB.. they split apart to dodge the torps (the BB ate one torp) as their secondary cannons opened up on me. as i threaded the gap between them at full speed i fired off the second salvo from both sides... both the Cruiser and the BB ate all 6 of my torps.. as the detonations rippled through their hulls i headed off in search of new prey.

 

If only the Kriegsmarine would have thought of the V-2 0r V-1 Destroyer program of some sort.

well that was fun. In my new york I turned my guns on a DD becuase it was close and DD's are not fun when they are close to my BB (it was still around 9 k out) but I fired a full salvo (still not used to the travel time and arc of new york's guns) and I still had AP loaded. I happened to be right on target with my lead but I wasn't expecting to completely blow that DD out of the water. Not with AP at least.

I think only a few have access to the russian DD's and german cruisers. unless they are on a test server?

Seeing that they cant even put the name of Her correctly gives me worries, what on earth they were thinking writing name in Slovenian? If they will be dumb enough to put Her in soviet tree there is major shitstorm ahead...
