I bought the book Rainbow Six and started reading it. I've read some of Clancy's earlier stuff (Hunt for Red October, Sum of All Fears, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) but evidently missed a few in between. Anyway, reading got me thinking about tactics and coordination for R6S. Timed entries, flash bang tactics (throw a pair 2 seconds apart so when they pop up after the first the second hits them), movement and formation setups. Then it hit me: people playing don't think like terrorists, they think like gamers. That kind of stuff won't work
I'd say I'll be taking a trip to the local used book store and just getting everything. I'm the kind that needs to read them in order from the start.
Misdirection works great though. Breaching one entrance and then using a different one to enter, for instance.
I like dual entries, first breached is the second to enter with the second breach just after they all turn to the first leaving them out of position for the second breach (first to enter) by the time they turn back to the new threat then the first breach can enter and the enemy is again out of position.
Love that one. Jack Ryan is also badass. read most of the books (I haven't read any of the more technical ones) and have about 6-10 of them. I just love how he kept characters around for a long time while introducing new ones. I don't don't believe clancy is gone and he faked his death for new ideas in his writing. because a bunch of characters in his books have faked their death multiple times.
That kind of stuff works in higher ranked CSGO play so I imagine it would work in RS Siege at a higher skilllevel too. At some point every second becomes valuable and especially if you didnt have cover and only turned your back to the incoming flash you have to turn around as quickly as possible as the enemy could be using that splitsecond to push and kill you. Thats when a quickly timed 2nd flash would get a full flash on the enemy. That said I dont have the game yet so who knows how it exactly works in Siege.
Finally got to level 20 and started ranked matches last night with MH and Renolts. Only got to play 1 because it was late but that game went 9 rounds before our team finally won match point. I gotta say I'm hooked.
There was so much adrenaline by the time we finished the game, took me forever to get to sleep!! Normal multi player has nothing on the ranked side. It really is fantastic to play, both slower and more methodical yet at times faster like terrorist hunt. My best moment of the night, prone watching a reenforced door when I notice a pair of feet come up to the other side, turns out if you shoot someone in the feet they tend to drop on the floor making even more vital areas avaliable to be shot!
That goes for shield guys especially, PVP and PVE - I always try to go for the feet/knees if they're standing up
Kneecapping shields has been incredibly useful, hadn't thought of shooting feet before. Honestly wasn't sure if it would register damage. Now it gives me pause knowing that I can be shot from under a door when planting a charge.
after like two matches in ranked I start to get the shakes and I need to take a break. on the plus side, I'm now Silver 4
Also, you know you're doing well when you get accused of cheating. I've found that Rook's P90 is great at getting headshots: if you start your burst aiming at the waist/stomach it climbs right to the noggin in a controlled line. Got like 4 headshots in a match. the rate of fire more than makes up for the lower damage over the MP5.
I've been happy using Rook but I stick with the MP5. Need to get find a second defender to work with, probably Castle or Jager. I might unlock Doc since I tend to guard areas that don't get attacked much.
Any hard data on how much the armor plates Rook can drop help? I unlocked Rook as my first defender too but they don't seem to do much. haven't had much time to test at all though.
I don't know the numbers but the extra armor tends to make you go wounded and able to be revived more often instead of dead. It won't help in case of a head shot but explosions, body shots etc are more survivable.
what's nice about Rook also is that he's much less situational than other defenders. his armor plates will always help, where other defender gadgets might be more situational.
That's also why he and Doc would pair well - with a better chance to only be injured Doc's stim pistol has more chances to revive.
