Need a rules ruling. (lol, I rhymed) The rules for grappling infusion state: Your cloud, deadly earth, or wall blast grows tendrils that hold your enemies in place. Whenever a creature takes damage from the infused blast, you can attempt a combat maneuver check to have the blast grapple that opponent. Your bonus on this check is equal to 2 + your kineticist level + your Constitution modifier (treat the blast as a Huge creature). The blast only grapples opponents; it can't perform other functions of grapple maneuvers such as pinning or moving the opponent. If the blast is already grappling an opponent, it receives a +5 bonus on its combat maneuver check to maintain the grapple, as normal. You can use this infusion only if you also use the cloud, deadly earth, or wall form infusion. While the void ability "Singularity" states: You create a growing singularity. Choose a grid intersection within 30 feet. All creatures and objects in a 5-foot-radius burst centered on the intersection take 1/4 your blast's normal amount of damage (or half damage for a negative blast). On your next turn, the singularity deals damage in a 10-foot-radius burst, and on your turn after that, it deals damage in a 15-foot-radius burst. The DC is Dexterity-based. Would it be reasonable for singularity to be considered one of the options for grappling infusion? The way it's written, the void user is creating an expanding gravity well (AWESOME) that does damage over time (not great, but passable), but allows enemies nearby to just walk away from it (WTF?). Grappling infusion's rules were written before void existed as an element, so it feels like singularity would be a "reasonable" addition to the list of blast shapes that use it.
YAAAAY!. Be warned, the void rules are sketchy, so I may have to ask for rulings about interactions every once in a while, but the general "theme" of the class is pretty damn cool. Someone who more or less controls gravity has a lot of potential. I just wish they had done a little more with it. Aether may still be the better utility element. Example, Gravity Master allows you to control the direction of gravity, but not it's strength. So while an obvious application would be to mimic the wizard spell Gravity Well, slowing enemies and making it difficult to fly, Gravity Master doesn't allow that. I feel like they rushed this one out without giving it much flavor.
Alright, I made a few characters depending on the party needs. A tiefling wizard who will be a portal specialist, when we get to that point. OR A grippli cleric who licks people at a range of 10' to cast cure and inflict spells
Friendly reminder. We are gaming on Wednesday of this week. Check in early because we might actually have some serious time to play.
I'll do my best to be there on time. I got home around 9:15 last night, but we should be getting a little faster through the week.
For those that are interested, the new time for steampunk pathfinder will be 8pm Pacific Time, I know it's later than the original, nothing is set in stone, but it's really the only time Laucivol can make it on Wednesday as he's got an RL concern in the afternoons prior to that and I sleep Let me know who's interested, I still have characters from Alexia and Tony, not sure if either of them will be able to make it at the new time, so... soon TM. And now back to your regularly scheduled programming, I need sleep! See you guys tonight!
I'm trying as hard as I can to make it home in time tonight. At the moment it looks like I might get home right at 8:30 and be online shortly after, but it might be a few minutes later.
Yeah, upon further reflection, I was definitely playing too aggressive last night with that goblin. I still think the character would have a short fuse, but once the fight was over, she wouldn't have still tried to kill the little shit. Not let him just walk off, mind, but not murder either. That's dark side stuff. Anyway, between sessions, let's just say she apologized for the behavior on the way to whatever tavern we're staying at and leave it at that.
Today is starting out great, I got 3 hours of sleep. Woot! The inn we are staying at is the Burnished Coin. The owner is a satyr. Ironically, he shows great restraint when it comes to alcoholic beverages. His name is Delfan. The hostess (part barmaid and part maid) is an aasimar named Eleyn.
Had to make a tough choice. As you may recall, I wasn't feeling well last night. Tonight I feel worse and have had about 5 hours of sleep now. Gonna cancel tonight. See everyone next Thursday.
