cool, when does f2p actually go live? i tried to find it in that faq but if it was there i missed it. always had a bit of interest in the game but was busy playing (and paying) for ESO back when it launched so i skipped it. currently just trying to get my backlog of single-player games out of the way for fallout4 this fall but tossing in some MMO action would be a nice change of pace
a few things to note, I resubbed because... well I loved this game, only reason I stopped was because nobody was around anymore Character names have been altered, there is now a first and last so you will have to change your character name when you log back in if you played prior to the change (It's a good thing imho, less likely to copy names etc...) Currently there appears to be only two servers active, one PVP and one PVE (it automatically moved my characters to the PVE server) Your character will be de-amped, you'll have to respec it out. I'm curious how the character limit will apply to those who already have more than 2 characters, though I assume they'll just grandfather them in. Loyalty points can be used to mitigate or outright remove some of the F2P limitations for those who don't want to pay for the 'premium' play, for those that do, there's a bunch of perks that can be improved with loyalty points. I don't believe there's any way to get the mount unless you've kept an active account since day one. Bugger XD
Massively OP's got a rundown of the stuff they're testing for the F2P drop. http://massivelyop.com/2015/08/05/heres-whats-in-wildstars-massive-fall-patch/
Damn shame, I really enjoyed Wildstar. A large portion of the Wildstar team was responsible for vanilla World of Warcraft. Hope they can move on and make something epic again.
unfortunately, in spite of the fact how so many people loved so many things about Wildstar, it has not received the support it required in order to be profitable. Probably due to the fact that they retained the level of difficulty that made them interesting, but turned off casuals which are sadly, the vast majority of the actual income from gamers. I eventually stopped playing Wildstar simply because noone else I knew was playing it, no matter how much I love the game, I can only play it solo so long before I am looking for other people to play with...
Free-to-play and on Steam as of today! I thought this game looked super cool but never have enough time (baby, grad school) to justify a subscription. Now that the barrier to entry has never been lower, consider me a late adopter! Going to roll up an Esper once this 40 day / 40 night download is done. Anybody else have their interest piqued?
I'm gonna check it out this weekend. I never made it far at launch but I heard they've streamlined leveling a lot recently.
Yep. It's been in the works since a few months after the official servers shut down. Last I heard it wasn't a game per-se, but more of a virtual chat for people who want to RP in the WS Universe. Merely writing an MMO is an insanely huge project, and reverse-engineering an existing one all the more so, so it will probably be a good while before they have anything you can play, but still it's cool to see the fans doing this.
