So I played the closed beta and it was fucking amazing. Absolutely picking this game up. Beta didn't include the story mode so a google search revealed I missed a new trailer smack dab in the middle of December. Went completely under my radar. THE GODDAMN ELEPHANT.
Regarding the campaign story, here's what I gleamed from the official website: Sounds like Ubisoft is already positioning for a sequel.
ok... just found this... really bad news... http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2016/12/13/honor-always-online-experience-ubisoft- https://www.vg247.com/2016/12/14/for-honor-single-player-always-on-internet-connection/ https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016...-always-online-experience-even-single-player/ Oh Ubisoft... Must we all play this song again?
You think they wouldnt be dicks anymore after they almost had a hostile takeover. Guess they really do want to be turned into a shell.
I honestly thought they had stopped doing this (at least for the single player parts). Even with my amazing internet, this is a real deal breaker for me. I do not savor the idea of being completely unable to play a game just because a publisher decided to shut down the servers. I was really looking forward to this too. Maybe I will pick it up after it goes on sale.
heard pretty much nothing but good things. though i did hear pvp is basically a lost cause unless you have a gamepad... will be waiting for reviews on it but considering i had basically written it off as over-hyped prior to hearing from folks in the closed beta, i'm pretty excited
Seems like a game to wait for release. What I've seen is cool, but like it's been said, probably a wait for sale game.
Yea I'd be playing this except P2P, especially where I am, is a no go where reaction time makes a difference. Fucking Dark Souls 3 is impossible to play PVP, at least there they have a really good reason to do P2P networking (since you're joining someone else's game world), but for a PVP game this is fucking stupid.
I've been talking to some guys in the big companies and it sounds very brutal in the AAA companies, perhaps not all. For one, they absolutely seem to loathe piracy as a standard policy and they spout that stuff about "our software always calls home" and other bs. I get they don't like it, I don't like piracy but you're throwing the baby away with the washing water when they insist on things like "always online". Not all people can be always online and it's fucked up to stop you from playing the game you've bought just because someone somewhere who wasn't going to buy the game anyways isn't allowed to play the game - but might still end up playing it with their own hacked VPN servers. Another thing I heard is that they actually use steroids and hormones in the industry. It's pretty obvious that a lot of the people who end up in the AAA big three are not always people who are passionate about games. More like passionate about making a ton of money and being a good company guy to the investors. And I get why they do that when 200k per year is what they can aim for and sometimes beyond it. Even if you had principles to begin with that seems like a good price to sell them for. Overall, I am nowadays telling people to reconsider if they ask about trying it in the games industry. Assuming you ever "make it" you'll end up with people almost expecting that you take drugs so you can work around the clock and that you're ready to constantly uproot yourself on a moment's notice without any desire to ever raise a family. It imho correlates heavily with the people who end up taking such conditions being there just for the money. Not always but often. Had some arguments with guys from LA who argued that what I called fraud was "not causing any serious harm, loss of 50$ is inconsequential bla bla" and how corporations should never be regulated against deliberately lying and committing fraud against their customers. To me it's like saying that governments should not regulate entrepreneurial people who steal wallets because that's a good business opportunity and the average losses to a person are manageable. I'm just glad that some companies are still able to create truly great games. Ubisoft is one of the most annoying companies out there. For instance the latest Anno games just flat out couldn't be run on my computer and on many others because it requires to be online and launched through their online launcher where the launcher itself was broken. To me, Ubisoft is one of the companies that is most aggressively driving the constantly online demand and who have some serious issues with quality. I feel sorry for the talented and passionate people they employ who are facing at times impossible odds while trying to make great games - being pushed to release before they're finished and being forced to sabotage their own products with publisher ware such as broken launchers. I have some hopes for this game but I'm cautious.
You know.. as much as I'm mad about the "always on" aspect of this game, it still looks fun as hell: I will probably get this when it goes on sale.
