well, it does stand to reason, a penis is pretty much designed to do exactly the same thing, penetrate the nether regions and deliver tiny lifeforms... fortunately ours doesn't require separation XD

normally they grow back if that happens in nature, like with the male octopus.

proving once again, that we know so very little about the universe, how could we possibly be so arrogant as to conclude something is impossible in the first place?

hey, so you're telling me they finally realized that they had a preexisting cable line to every house with enough cable mass to easily outperform the cable companies with it's own built in carrier wave? Well, maybe they'll revamp the power grid if this takes off, it's only slightly outdated.

It actually makes sense! Use existing infrastructure that already connects basically every household and business, even if it needs updating it would still be cheaper than having to create all new networks that would most likely mirror the grid already in place.

They do. Company i work for is contracted by AT&T to basically update the eletronic drawings/records. Basically we get the drawings of what the engineers want to do/did do and we update the computer database of those.it's CAD. And the fiber almost always paralells copper (if there is copper). We don't do anything with power lines but they probaly mirror them especially the aerial cables. Because there is right of way around the roads (where companies can worknot owned by a business)

huh, I actually looked at the 'sample' video, that may be more ingenious than I initially gave them credit for, now I'm just hypothesizing, but what it looks like they're doing is using a repeater at the top of each power pole (in order to avoid complications at the transformers) which receive and transmit the rf signal into the cable without requiring a metal to metal connector, so they can just mount these on top of the pole and using the presumably inductive sheaths keep the data travelling along the wires without all the complicated hardware you'd otherwise need. The rest is just the same tech they use for cable modems, they use the 'skin effect' or the principle by which an RF signal will migrate to the outermost layer of a conductive material rather than travelling through the bulk of it. There's a lot of technical bits and bobs I won't get into right now, but basically it allows you to run signals at varying frequencies along the same lines without interfering with each other. It also effectively allows you to transmit more data, because your finite limitation is more or less the size of the cable. This is why I kind've snarked in the previous post, because cable has been dominating simply due to the fact that their cable is physically larger than the phone line, allowing them to transmit more data by this principle, but the power lines are a completely different beast altogether, with this system their actual limitation may not be the cable size, but the speed at which the repeater can do it's thing. If it works like they claim cable may have finally met a viable challenger for the throne. (fiber is significantly faster, but new wiring has to be run to every installation, whereas cable pretty much has the groundwork laid, so while fiber is better, it costs more and is more difficult to obtain, thereby not entirely a valid competitor except in those locations where it is already present.) I hope it's everything it's cracked up to be, because the real winners will be us, no more throttling down to make us pay more, push that limit to the sky! XD

Yeah occasionaly there are jobs where they have to change what fiber cable is used because the place making it ran out and they (fiber manufacturing companies) are really behind the demand. As in years behind. I think it's years. Might be months. All i actually know is they are behind. There is more demand than there is actual product. Demand by the communications companies.

going to have repeaters at the top of every pole...

I'm just saying that's what it looks like, I don't have access to their actual tech, but yeah, there's a lot of potential failure issues, on the other hand, they have a solid capability for built in redundancies depending on the range of their wireless connectivity and how frequently they put in primary junctions. If one repeater goes out it may only mean that specific repeaters zone is out until they get to it, if they have bidirectional redundancy. alternatively they could simply route it like cell towers and ensure that each repeater is within the range of the two closest to it, so if something happens to one they can jump it. There's a number of ways they could make use of such a system with minimal chance of failure, I guess we'll see how they go about it.
