    Since I haven't heard anything about getting a steam key in addition to the Epic key or delaying till it's out on steam. I requested a refund.

    UPDATE

    Managed to get in touch with Matt at PGI. I asked him about the status of possibly getting Steam keys after the EGS exclusive deal runs out (as discussed in the AMA). Basically, Russ is still looking into if it is possible. It requires communicating with both Valve and Epic to see if it can be done. As soon as they know, they plan to post the result on the MWO and MW5 website.

    I'm going to give it another week I guess.

    This is where that came from. Epic said they were going to cover kickstarter refunds. I got mixed up and thought they were covering all refunds for exclusivity deals made after steam keys were promised. I believe they were only doing this for kickstarted projects.

    I went ahead and asked for a refund yesterday after still no word on the steam keys next year and telling them that I'd have held out if steam was an option.

    Since I used PayPal for the pre-order it is outside the refund window. Thankfully they are aware and doing manual refunds in these cases. The bad news is that it looks like I will lose out on the PayPal fees to get my money back.

    The artwork has been fantastic, just wish the management was as good.

    I just sent in my refund request. Mixed feelings over it all still. I told them the reason for refund was 100% their choice of Epic exclusive, and IF the game survived long enough to be offered on Steam, I would reconsider at that time. Possibly.

    Well, while I don't like the EPIC store and probably won't buy there, the fact that they're giving out no questions asked refunds until Sept 1st is a good move and I have no ill will toward PGI about it all. They made a business move, are willing to reimburse those who don't agree, and will sell it elsewhere later.

    Ehh, it is still some shady shit that they sold the pre-order one way while actively in negotiations for exclusivity. Deal was done back in April before the pre-order ended and we only found out now because of a website fuckup. Let's not outright absolve PGI because the deal may make financial sense.

    Honestly the only reason PGI will ever receive any more of my money after this is because I don't want the Mechwarrior Franchise to die because the asshats who are currently abusing it are a bunch of two faced lying ballsacks filled with rancid shit and old testicular shavings (and the game looks great, which has nothing to do with the people in charge of the money). I'll wait until it's past the exclusive date because Epic will absolutely never receive a dime of my money until such a time as they recant their shit and become a better company... but probably not even then as I can be a rather stubborn fuck and am quite capable of holding a grudge for decades. I'm forty and may not survive a grudge starting this late XD

    (Note: I don't really expect the mechwarrior franchise to die because of PGI, but I'd hate to have to wait another 20 years for a new one...)

    Well I am very pleasantly surprised that the entire amount was refunded to me with no losses from paypal fees. Kudos to PGI for being willing to eat the fees for the preorders to give refunds! Now I'm just left wondering how many of the 20,000 preorders have kept theirs.
