It would be much better if they toned down how over the top pervertedness it. I pretty much skip all that stuff which seems to make each episode at least 5 minutes shorter. I think they did tone it down for the 2nd season.
In a weird way it helps that he's got so many girls now that the show doesn't have time to perve on any one of them, so it ends up treating them like... actual characters instead of just a walking boob platform.
You're more of a trooper than I am. I couldn't get through the first episode of that smut. Which is literally what it is, smut.
Feeling like I should get started on some nice series that is more of hard scifi and so on.. Along the lines of Gundam Seed* and 08th Mobile Suit. *Gundam Seed is still kinda iffy for the credibility of the mechs and all, instead of plausibility it leans heavily towards the 'chosen one power fantasy'. Then again we do have actual records of pilots who were just ridiculously overpowered such as Marseille... I mean, in one battle how many people did he shoot down? And then he got a hit to his engine and lost most of his power and a Spitfire pilot saw him contrailing thick smoke and struggling to maintain speed and lift and closed in for a kill - and he just 'left handed' quickly aligned his plane despite being on the verge of stalling and threw a burst into the canopy and engine of the spitfire coming in for the kill. And one of his hobbies was to deliver notes to the British fighter base where he had written the fates of the British pilots downed that day behind the German lines - such as whether they were discovered dead or captured because he was worried that their families would feel anxiety and pain from not knowing. So yea like any reasonable person he wrote these notes, tucked them to his pocket and took off alone and flew to the enemy fighter base, flew through all of their AA fire, opened the canopy and dropped his note and flew back home. But if we saw that on an anime or some other show most people would go "yea right and why wasn't he hit, no one would do that!" The guy also strafed the ground in front of his superior officer's tent while the officer was inside of it as a protest after his superior had grounded him the day before as the two of them were competing for who would earn the Iron Cross first (or so). He would have been executed but he was such a ridiculously good pilot. During one single day he once shot down 17 enemy planes. Sorry. Got carried away there!
It would be cool if there were more isekai that weren't either hypersexed or hyperviolent. I remember watching Rayearth way back in the day and really enjoying that. It treated its female protagonists with respect. They were called there to save the world, not to be ogled. One nice thing that Overlord did have going for it was the concept of the world affecting Momonga's mind and actually making him think like an undead overlord bent on ruling the world. So while it would from time to time have fun with Shalltear and Albedo getting all hot and bothered, it never was the focus of the show or even their character. It was just a running gag that it did once in a while and then went back to everybody being big damn badasses again. Hope that gets a fourth season someday since it'd be fun to see what comes of Nazarick being recognized as an independent nation.
Yea, I just can't be bothered with watching anime smut and too much of the Japanese 'oh fuck, I find myself in the same room with opposite sex and this is SO VERY AWKWARD'. Once in a while that's completely fine because it really happens in real life too.. You know that fricking 'could be a movie star' chick swoops in with a huge cleavage, ample bust and you can also see she has this pentagram-steel-ring-leather-harness under her shirt. "About that report?" -"the what? oh.. yea got it right here, let me just grab the titt.. the papers."

I have a strong desire to finish animes I start, as I dont watch many these days but somewhat of a habit from my youth to finish. In the end I just gave up. I heard in one of the last episodes the main character has to finger a girls pussy to transfer energy to her, thats the stupid mindless crap I would expect from a cheesy porn. When I was younger and far more naive I would just grab a bunch without reading the synopsis and always watch the first 3 episodes, I was quite adamant about always doing the 3 episodes too. Most would end up getting dropped but it was a good way to find some decent ones. Then it happened. Was on the 3rd episode of a anime which I knew I would drop from the 1st episode, the main character a guy that dresses as a woman for work asks one of his friends if it would hurt to have a dick up his ass. It was at that point I realized sometimes you just have to drop crap and not carry on. Now I always read the synopsis. What Im watching this season. Megalo box nomad Zombie land saga season 2 Im a spider. will eventually start Edens zero, hero academia, and Nagatoro.
I guess I'm just a perv, I don't really find the over the top lewdity to be more than occasionally annoying. If anything I find the character's reactions to them to be more obnoxious than the reason for the reaction, itself. Then again, I hunted down Grenadier because of the above lol. I had to see wtf. Completely absurd, but not an absolutely terrible anime. The ending just about killed me XD. To each their own, I guess. (about Overlord specifically, I don't care for the objectification of female characters, I just don't really care as much in what is obviously intended to be for comedic or dramatic effect) Personally I hated that they didn't really address how he became more and more oblivious to how he was being affected by the change, but he still has these completely absurd reactions. Like, are you becoming more undead, or not, and even becoming undead, might you not at least recognize the fact? 'huh, I've been casually murdering people and it doesn't really bother me, but I mean, shouldn't it?' doesn't take much to give the character at least the simple acknowledgement that this is in fact happening and it's not just bad writing. I suppose he could also have just been a psychopath initially, but that kinda belies his initial reactions. Also he'd be better feigning normality.
Yeah, though the explanation was just that it's there because he put it there. Sure he built the dungeon and there's no reason it's even out of character since he's secretly a nerd, but it still just shows up out of left field. That little spell effect that hits him when he's thinking like Momonga instead of Ainz is supposed to be the world basically overwriting his normal behavior, so that's why he doesn't usually notice. It does cross his mind from time to time that he's being way more ruthless than he was even as a player character, but again he's thinking like Ainz so it doesn't actually bother him per se.
That's a nice gif and I don't mind boobed hot characters. Think of Commissar Raivel. Nothing wrong there. But yea it's that part where it's literally just watching the most annoying and awkward pervy reactions and so on. It's like they're making fun of some of their own viewers or something which just isn't that entertaining to me to spend my time on.
They -are- making fun of the anime trope otaku. Most frequently the characters are gamer shut-ins, weebs and otaku. Very little contact with the fairer sex. But since it's also their target audience they're really just showing them what they fantasize about. I wouldn't be shocked if the over the top reactions were explicitly to provide a bit of a boost for those who fit in that category, basically schadenfreude. That and situational envy.
I'm sure it's all in good fun. While poking fun at otaku is common, they're not really mean about it, and lately they're usually shown as normal people who live and work and do stuff, but are introverts with nerd hobbies.
It's just so many levels of breaking the fourth wall or whatever you call it that it's just weird and confusing to me and not that relatable. But then I don't probably belong to the target demographic. Target demographic - no mention of weird goofy engineers who go about designing killbots.
