Your tastes in Music... Alright, so I really want to know which band everyone thinks is the greatest of all time, AND WHY.... Doesn't have to be a long answer, bu put some serious thought into why you selected you choice of music. Symphonic Orchestras and Classical Composers do not count in this discussion, because they are ALL amazing in their own rights.... I will start. Aerosmith, because they have managed to keep themselves relevant to their audiences for 42 years. They have continued to put out catchy, chart topping, generally all around good music through their career, with few exceptions. This is why they are my pick for greatest band of all time...
The greatest of all time? There are so many that have been around for ages and have shaped their respective music genres irrecoverably that it's just not possible to pick one. All time personal favorite is still gonna be a tough one, but I'd probably go with Nightwish, as I return to their music more frequently than to, for instance, Metallica or Floggin' Molly (which I also listen to on regular basis). I also like their diversity and the ultra pompousness of some of the songs.
I have lots of favorites, but if I had to pick an "all time" it'd be Led Zeppelin. They're not even my favorite band, it's just that they're so influential for anyone who listens to rock/roll/etc.
Went ahead and merged the "Your tastes in music" with this one, because they are more or less synonymous.
Be'Lakor because they fit my Taste perfectly. The Lead Singers Growls are exactly how I expect them to be and theyr Musik is simply amazing. Generally not so fast and melodic. No other has managed to keep me listening to them for more then one year and still love it like on the first day <3. But see for yourself:
Thaks Sardonic. I honestly mysta skimmed the thread list so fast I missed this thread haha... I love Nightwish as well, especially as a combat guy, they have a TON of stuff that is relavent to troops at war, lyrics wise.... They stiff take a back seat in the big picture though.... ( I will say I listen to Nightwish WAY more often though.
Pink Floyd I was listening to them at a young age, experienced much of my life to their music, and seeing them live is probably going to be the closest I'll ever get to a religious experience. What they did with music and how they influenced music, in general, is amazing considering their turbulent history. I'm sure people will point to DSotM as their best album, but if you want a real taste of their stuff, dig out their less recognized albums and give those a listen. You'll get a chance to see just how wide-ranging their sound was.
Hey, just look at me I know almost nothing about rock music. I have heard the name of several of them but i have never listen to any of their songs and i probably wont do that for a very long time. Hopefully never I'm 18 years old and i have spent 5 years listening to different types of electronic music. 4 of those years have been spent listening to hardstyle. Lately, I have also been listening to UK Hardcore. Both of these have hard kicks, awesome melodies and often fantastic vocals. I can tell straight away that not many of you will press on these links becuase i know that this is music that doesnt fit everyone, but still Hardstyle: Coone - Universal Language Coone - Musical Notez Frontliner - I'm The Melodyman Frontliner Vs Marc Acardipane - Outside World 2009 (Outside Spacer Remix) Wildstylez & Isaac - Lost In Music UK Hardcore: Darren Styles - Skydivin' Darren Styles - Feel Love Xamidium - I Don't Wanna Grow Up (S3RL remix) Cat Like Thief - Thinking Of You, Wherever You Are Re-Con - Kidz Other: Chicane feat. Kate Walsh - Playing Fields DJ Contacreast - Divine Adventure Dream Dance Alliance - Free Falling A lot of links in this post but its worth it . Like my sig says "I'm addicted to music and proud of it"
Well, I just recently found two more awesome as hell bands. Diablo Swing Orchestra, with these guys, it's a mix of metal, swing, jazz, and orchestral. It sounds strange, but it's fucking awesome. Also, Exit Strategy of a Wrecking Ball is my favorite song on this album. The other is Diecast. Metal as fuck, and I can't stop listening to them. (and because I'm only allowed one video per post: Sacrifice Fade Away
Have taken a liking to these guys as well, not sure of the quality of the sound on this clip as I only have my crappy work headset but yeah brilliant.
I'll never say who the BEST is. But the band I always come back to is Metallica. They have a technical complexity that many heavy metal bands can't match, and James Hetfield has developed over the last several years to be a very good vocalist. Plus, both Hetfield and Kirk Hammet and great guitarists. Always fun to listen to them jam. Interestingly, Metallica is actually better live than in the studio IMHO. The ability to work a crowd is great. The runner ups were Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, for very similar reasons.
