I love the look of cafe racer style bikes and I've always liked the idea of modifying the Honda Nighthawk in that style but I'm convinced if I ever got a bike I'd likely do something dumb and get myself killed lol.
Planning to do my biketest this Summer. Looking at getting a '97 or so CBR600 for the first year to start building my No Claims. Not too fussed about fairing providing mechanicals are sound. Figuring if I drop it or something similar I won't be as gutted

A few reasons. First of all, I've never ridden a motorcycle. Second, I'd have to summon up enough cash to buy one AND keep it a secret from mom, dad, AND my boyfriend. Third, the boyfriend's objections are unfortunately statistically grounded and those statistics are in no way good. Here, hospital trauma admissions increase by 40-50% just from motorcycle-related incidents during the warmer months. But, damn, do I still want one. >.>;
The secrecy part might be hard but you can get into a 250 Ninja for not much money at all if you don't mind a little body damage. Low seat height, light weight, and a mid-90s to early 00s model can be found for probably around $1500 in running condition.
It won't be long before all motorcycles have ABS as standard equipment. In fact I think the EU is going to start requiring it as early as next year.
