They aired episode 1 twice last night but announced that both episode 1 & 2 could be streamed today from several sources. I remember Hulu and two others but I can't remember where, I only caught part of the ad. They do have the episodes up on their website as well http://www.history.com/shows/vikings
That is a good saga, 'The Vikings" the movie with kirk douglas was based of this as well as Harry Harrison's "The Hammer and the Cross" Which is an excellent read, a kind of alternate timelime of Ragnar's saga mixed with christian church politics.
"...His other sons, Ivar the Boneless (alias Hingwar) and Ubbe soon learned the details of their father's death and swore that they would avenge his killing, in time-honoured Viking tradition. In 866, Ivar and Ubbe crossed the North Sea with a large army (The Great Heathen Army), sacked York, met King Aelle in battle, and captured him. He was sentenced to die according to the custom of the blood eagle - an exceedingly painful death." From the Wikipedia article. Representin' the lance!
I watched this and can't help but think of it as a kind of prequel to Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Tales.
CURSE YOU REGIONAL VIDEOS!!!!!!!! Of course, episodes 1 and 2 are available in the States, on the History website.... but attempting to play them from outside the states gives you a "This content is currently unavailable audio message when you attempt to play the vid.... And of course, the Canadian counterpart website doesn't have the videos. Why, oh why do networks have to do this shit? It's not like it would cost them much money.
most cable tv has the free movies section in the on demand area and you can watch episodes there. look for series in the history channel folder.
Only works if you live in America tho Dano Us other worldy types have to look for the series from more nefarious means
saw first episode last night, hoping to get the other tonight. pretty good, impressed for a cable network, not surprised something to do with Vikings got such high views, there's a demand that no production house for what ever reason wants to oblige, Mel Gib was going to, till the scandal
Word up dawg, I was thinking the same thing. As far as historical accuracy? Ehh, it's historical drama based on a saga, so, longboats full of salt. And it's on the History Channel, so I don't expect much in that department.
To be honest since it was the History channel, I was kinda hoping to see a dropship with the FRR crest on it come and drop off the sun stone for them to navigate by. It wouldn't be too far fetched for that channel these days.
Really? Glad I don't have cable/watch tv then cause 10 years ago the History channel was pretty much all I watched! Shame that it has devolved into such a sorry state...
Best part about History Channel is Modern Marvels when they're reaired. Cardboard boxes was an interesting episode.
Ragnarr said the land to west was called England, only it was not called England for a long while yet. I have enjoyed the show so far, as far as accuracy goes it makes many mistakes.
some how i think this may have been a editors choice of correction for the "wider audience" they do believe that most of there viewers will be pedestrian, rather than knowledgeable about 1 specific race's 300-400 year period of awesomeness. ide love them to be accurate, but i understand why they are not (at least on some points)
The guy who plays Eric is Vladimir Kulich, who not only played the part of Buliwyf in The 13th Warrior but also voiced Ulfric Stormcloak in Skyrim.
I have episode 1+2 in Russian/English 720p, each file is 1,15gig. If anyone has space to upload or wants me to sent (I have 1MByte/s upload), contact me.
