Who done plays? I know Solomance is in the sport with his GHOST buddies, but I'm interested to see who else plays. I'm part of a 20-strong team down here in TX called Fireforce Austin, we play weekly out at Texas Paintball. I also run an airsmithy business on the side with one of the other Fireforce members, you can check out some of the custom builds we have done on our FB page.
Im at work so cant access FB. Here is the ghosts ASC page: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=136010 Oh and the tread about them from the diplomatic section: http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index.php?threads/team-ghosts-ontario.8751/
Looks like a ton of fun! I've never had a chance to airsoft, but I've been a paintballer for over 10 years. Still get out at least two or three times a season.
If I ever did air soft I would dress up correctly like a marine from WWII with a M1 carbine and 1911. My other outfit would be a German WWII soldier with Kar98k and a Luger.
Unit: Cobra Loc: Boise, Idaho Callsign: Shockwave Weapon: G&P mk23 stoner AEG Muzzle Velocity: 420 .25BB x2 1200 Round AE Mags. x2 AI tornado Grenades
The problem I have with spending 500 to 600 on a air soft Kar98k or a M1 carbine is that for a few hundred more I could buy a real one. Already own a real m1 carbine so I already got that down. Still would be nice if I could get the money for a air soft get up. Maybe after I get my tax return.
Damn there is a co2 1903...>.> I hate you guys...making me want to spend money. 1903 http://m.redwolfairsoft.com/item_detail/38205-G&G GM1903 A3 CO2 Version Kar98k http://m.redwolfairsoft.com/item_detail/32642-G&G G980
Just be aware, most fields (at least in the US, Solo will have to sound off about playing up in America's Hat) won't let you field CO2 guns due to them shooting too hot for the field rules. For the most part, here are the following FPS limits at all the fields and operations I've been a part of (MED = minimum engagement distance Using 0.20g BBs for chrono: >350 fps - 0' MED 351-400 fps - 20' MED 401-450 fps - 50' MED, support weapons only (SAW, RPK, etc. No battle rifle or submachine gun profile weapons allowed) 451-600 fps - 100' MED, sniper/dmr weapons only (bolt-action or semi-auto only) (also, the max for snipers varies wildly from 600 fps being the highest i've ever seen, to 500 being the lowest. Individual fields are pretty unique about their max limits due to their individual insurance regs) < 601 fps - Not allowed The issue becomes that CO2 guns frequently chrono in the 500+ range, and can spike to over 700 with a brand new cartridge. So, while YMMV, I'd highly suggest looking into Green Gas/Propane variants if you're set on older war replicas, and going straight into Polarstar/SMP HPA setups if you want to run a gas-operated airsoft gun. *EDIT* Also, RedWolf is basically the most expensive place you can buy from. Check out Evike, eHobbyAsia, AirsoftGI and AirsoftAtlanta for more reasonable rates. I've been playing airsoft for over 10 years now, and have only bought from RWA when they were the only ones to have a part, and even then I felt bad about it, because I know for a fact that they add a 10-20% markup over any other retailer, and are located in Hong Kong so you're not even going to get it any faster.
Was just using them because they actually have the item on there website in a easier to find way. Also from what I read both are able to use co2 or gas.
Halo weapons. >.> http://www.evike.com/products/50210/ Also have the 1903 http://www.evike.com/products/48431/
Now THAT is a great idea! I'll hold on to that thought. Maybe some year I could start a thing like that here. The land is practically almost free, would buy some piece of forest and set up a mockup urban section as well, then rent it for military and police and sell all sorts of service packets for civilians, possibly with that club system. On scale 0 - 10 what is the pain, do they leave permanent marks?
A paint ball leaves about a 3cm welt if it hits your back. A simunition round will leave a welt the size of your palm and takes forever to heal. Airsoft you get small welts but lots of them. So Simis hurt > paintball > airsoft. Also an airsoft round you can acuratly reach out to about 200 feet, paintball about 40 feet, simunition is somewhere in the middle as it cant be stabalized really.
I've used them and have been shot with them. They are far more accurate and much more range. They fire a chalk tipped rubber round so they all mark where the hit was. If I remember correctly it is around 600 to 700 FPS. Though I've never owned a air soft gun that has shot more then 300fps. Just the 40 dollar ones at the local outdoor store. http://simunition.com/en/
With a properly adjusted hop-up unit, a 500+ FPS sniper rifle can reach out to 300', but at a certain point, you hit diminishing returns where the FPS is high enough that a light (0.20-0.25g) BB will be inaccurate due to overpressure, and a heavy (0.36-0.43g) BB will be too heavy to reach distance. My shop has actually been doing a lot of research on indoor ranges to find good combinations of FPS to weight, and came up with some basic numbers, but everyone chronos their guns with 0.20g BBs for consistency. The Airsmithy recommends the following setups to our customers, based on the FPS of their guns: >350 fps (CQB/Pistol) : .25g for accuracy, .20g for range 350-400 fps (Field) : .28g for accuracy, .25g for range 400-450 fps (DMR/SAW) : .32g for accuracy, .28g for range 450+ fps (Sniper) : .43g for accuracy, .32g for range or to base it on which weight is suitable for what FPS range: 0.20g: 240~370 fps 0.23g: 330~430 fps 0.25g: 350~480 fps 0.28g: 390~500 fps 0.32g: 400~600 fps 0.43g: 450~600+ fps
WTF man, fired the trainer and real one and now they have a airsoft version.. this airsoft thing is getting crazy
