After the dumpster fire that was Colonial Marines is there hope for a good new Alien game? This one is begin billed as a survival horror game, in fact it doesn't look like you even get weapons from what I've seen. Mostly about avoiding and using cover to navigate without being caught.
Sounds interesting but yeah would wait. And I could see weapons that would slow down/scare the alien away but not kill it and very limited ammo so your purpose is still to try to get around unnoticed. the weapon is just a last resort and even then not a guaranteed one.. (and weren't they supposed to be hard to kill even with the pulse rifle/flame thrower?)
Nah, the pulse rifle fires a caseless 10mm explosive tipped round. They rip the xenos up pretty well. They are pretty much immune to handguns or any civilian weapon in the lore though, except at very close range. I don't think the effect of flame throwers is ever clearly said, other than that fire seems to scare them.
The following cinematic extract seems to show that fire doesn't really do all that much... ...but I bet the force would fuck them UP.
This is being made by CA the wankers that brought Rome2. And it will be a console port. The ps4 and xboxOne are still not on par with gaming PC. The PC users will suffer for it.
Yeah I saw the trailer the other day and thought it looked interesting, but have no plans on reliving the disappointment that was CM. I'll play this by ear before making a purchase. I will say that the setting looks wonderful.
There's a preview up on Rock Paper Shotgun that makes the game sound VERY promising. I like going back to the franchise's roots and the first (vastly superior, in my opinion) film.
I am very wary. I had the same response that many of you are having when Colonial marines info started coming out. I was so excited. There is no way I am falling for another trick like that again. I am with Dihm, I will wait until it is released and the final has been reviewed.
It was fun because we made it fun. But the game itself was atrocious. If it was $5-10 I would say it might be worth a good co-op laugh, but not at the normal price. The thing that pissed me off so much is the lead up and promises about it. Plus the blatant lies about what it was going to be.
All of which is why I think its a brilliant idea for them to take the franchise back to Amnesia-style horror. I'm choosing to be optimistic.
Another shooter would be an instant turn-off. I do like the fact that they used a whole new concept with the survival story aspect.
personally I can't stand psychological/survival/horror games, books, or movies, I usually only end up in one of two states, nauseated or irritated.
Me? I'm more of the "fuck I don't want to move from my safe corner behind the sofa. Not because I'm scared but because I don't want to die." especially when the games have save points that are few and far between.
