This is a thread for Alpha Lance to report to their Lance Leader about repairs, skills, XP, and anything the Lance leader needs to change for the campaign.

Currently Alpha consists of myself, Trevnor, and Gheist. We need one more who is fairly flexible in terms of availability, although no actual responsibilities will be required other than showing up for missions. At most, I think Alpha will only run missions twice a week (maybe a third on rare occassions). Also, I may rotate Trevnor to a formal Lance Leader position if it is required, although no plans have been made to do that yet. As it stands now, I will probably be handling more administrative duties of the unit as a whole with Trevnor as my XO dealing mostly with Alpha Lance duties... although I may rope him into helping me with other admin duties if the need arises :)

    EDIT:

CONGRATS ALPHA LANCE! WE ARE AT FULL CAPACITY! :bananalama:

I think it should be possible... Be aware though Val, we are "Anytimers", in that most of us are on at all times of the day, in some form or another.

    sounds perfect :p

2 missions a week are fine (1 on the weekend would be nice but if needed i could shuffle it to be online for 2 during the week + maybe 1 extra on the weekend)

So, Magnus, looks like we are full up :D Also, in reguards to up grading.... I don't know if I could get a large laser yet in place of two mediums on the Javelin, not until double head sinks come out...

Have you considered the wolfhound? That would easily give you what you want without straying from canon at all. Reason I ask is that the extra 5 tons the Wolfhound gets goes a long way in helping to fit that Large Laser without making any sacrifices in speed, weapons, or armor. Also, I may be bragging but my 3045 1X model is badass :)

It is basically an upgraded version of the old 1A model. The 1A is a 3028 design and would be a solid platform to start with if you want to go that route. You may want to go for something heavier, but I leave that choice up to you. I know Gheist wants a Catapult eventually, I will probably get a heavy too, but I'm flirting with the idea of a Shadow Hawk or Griffin. Val wants to start in a Hunchy (LRM 10 & medium laser version), but I don't know what she wants longterm.

Two missions a week would be ideal, but the way things have been so busy, I will be happy if we can consistently do just one. However, if it is plausible for us to redeploy and piggyback on to another lances mission, that is always an option. We are the command lance so we can go where we please. ;) Keep in mind, standard deployment rules still apply; if two missions run back to back (in game time), you will not have time to make repairs, only reloading of ammo... so be careful about taking damage if you want to see a lot of action (easier said than done). Also, you can always hot-drop as an NPC with another lance for a little bonus XP, but keep in mind you will only get it for completing the mission (currently 2 XP). Normally, you only get 3-4 XP per mission anyway, so the NPC option is still a good one even if the reward seems small.

    ---

Also, lets start discussing about time availability in detail now. For starters, is Sundays good for everyone? Maybe noon-ish EST? That way we can do our thing with still time left in the day to get ready for Monday if we need to.

Yeah, that time works for me!

For the Wolfhound... would it be possible to sell the Javelin and upgrade? That's assuming that we have enough C-bills in the lance pot.... Also with the Javelin, I only have about 1.5 mill personal credit.

I think we can manage it although I won't know for sure until I get the financials on the lances updated tonight.

I forgot about the Wolfhound. You still want it after this fight? Would be easy to get.

Well... It's a possibility... I'm assuming we get a tidy little bonus once we "destroy" the pirates base of operations? If so, and we can afford it, sure, I'll swap out the Javelin for the Wolfhound... I wouldn't mind dropping a bit of armour to fit on a few more heat sinks... the four medium lasers and one large do produce a god awful amount of heat.

the 1A model is probably your best bet. it trades some short range firepower for the the large laser, but overall, i think it is the superior design with better heat management and armor.

What's on the 1A? Standard heat sinks, three medium lasers and a Large?

correct. to my understanding, it works best to rely on the large laser to engage from long range and using your speed to avoid fire. the 3 medium lasers are there to rush targets that outclass you at long range (such as missile boats and whatnot) or are slow and vulnerable from behind. it's a pretty good combo. I use an upscaled version on my ShaddyHack.

I plan to make a Wolfhound-inspired Wolverine, but have not done so yet.

ah... good point. you have jumping jack. i forgot about that. i have a 3048 refit that adds them, but you might want a bigger mech. if you like jumpjets and speed, the phoenix hawk would be a good candidate. we have quite a few.
