Any other brushes you recommend besides the one that comes with that set?

My collection is buried in storage, but I know where they are. I will try to dig them out this week. Most of my plastic models I got around 3rd edition BT and 2nd Edition CityTech (the latter included Clan mechs). I bought two of each of those box sets I believe... so I have a lot I can part with. Most of my lead and pewter models are other designs that weren't included in those box sets that I still wanted (Awesome, Cataphract, etc). I have a bunch of Unseen too. I also have a very large selection of pewter vehicle models, but I will likely be keeping most of those.

I mean, I plan on buying a car next year, so I wouldn't mind road tripping down somewhere. I can pick up 4 people on the way.

I think I have about a short company of mixed IS and Clan mechs, with a pair of tanks somewhere

The one that comes with that kit is quite good for basic details. They have a few brush kits but the regiment brush is the only one I own.

Most of my brushes I buy are from hobby lobby because they have a 50% off sale every so often. Which I have narrowed down to a few I use the most.

You will want a fine detail brush that tappers down to the tip very tightly. A dry brush and few to just throw paint on and not worry about details as your just putting the base down. I have a few citadel brushes too but games Workshop can be a bit expensive for the quality, so I only own the ones that stand out like their dry brushes.

The ones from hobby lobby are the masters touch synthetic golden taklon.

If you have never painted miniatures I would buy a few cheap ones you think look cool and give it a go to just use it as a learning experience.

Most of my painting knowledge comes from watching dr Faust painting clinic because it’s more laid back and explains more with a wide variety of models. He’s also not a autistic paint licker that has to show himself licking paint off a brush every 5 to 10 seconds. They may be good at painting but I can’t stand that silliness.

I'm trying to determine if the cat is going "human. What are you doing?" Or "damn. I wish those were on a table so I could knock them off."

She was courteous enough to not smack the shit out of them until after I took the photo, but yes, my "battle line" did not stand long.

    UPDATE!

Already had a conversation about this with Hollister, Fet, and Trev, but wanted to extend the offer to trade with others as well. Maybe there's a few mechs in packaged lances/stars you want aren't a fan of and want to trade? Read on for more info...

    =======================================================================================================

I will probably end up keeping most of my original package order, but may have some surplus individual mechs I am willing to trade. I just wanted to make an effort to notify you guys so that you weren't expecting an extra lance that may never come. Right now, here is what my new order list is looking like:

    STAR COLONEL PACKAGE:
x1 Clan Invasion Set - Executioner, Timber Wolf, Black Hawk, Grendel, Adder
    (intro box set)

x1 Clan Command Star - Direwolf, Summoner, Stormcrow, Shadow Cat, Myst Lynx
x1 Clan Heavy Striker Star - Gargoyle, Hellbringer, Mad Dog, Ice Ferret, Viper

x1 Legendary Mechwarriors - Direwolf, Timberwolf, Marauder, Archer
x1 Command Lance - Marauder, Archer, Valkyrie, Stinger
x1 Battle Lance - Warhammer, Rifleman, Phoenix Hawk, Wasp
x2 Heavy Lance - Banshee, Grasshopper, Centurion, Hatchetman
x2 Striker - Blackjack, Panther, Wolfhound, Jenner
x1 Fire Lance - Stalker, Longbow, Zeus, Trebuchet
x1 Urban Lance - Victor, Enforcer, Hunchback, Raven
x1 Comstar Command Lvl 2 - King Crab, Highlander, Black Knight, Exterminator, Sentinel, Mercury
    x2 Points of Elementals
    x1 Salavge Box: Legendary Mech
    x1 Salvage Box: Urbanmech bonus
    x2 Salvage Box: Random Omnimech
    x6 Salvage Box: Random Mech

    ===

    Additional Cash Purchases:
+1 Clan Command Star - Direwolf, Summoner, Stormcrow, Shadow Cat, Myst Lynx
+1 Clan Heavy Striker Star - Gargoyle, Hellbringer, Mad Dog, Ice Ferret, Viper
x2 Retaliation Pack - Inner Sphere (10 mech starter set)
    +1 Salvage Box: Urbanmech

    Possible Later Purchases:
+1 Clan Heavy Star - Stone Rhino, Supernova, Marauder 2C, Warhammer 2C, Hunchback 2C
    +1 Clan Elemental Star
+1 Direct Fire Lance - Atlas, Marauder II, Orion, Crusader
+1 Support Lance - Cyclops, Thug, Dragon, Spider
+1 Comstar Battle Lvl 2 - Crockett, Flashman, Guillotine, Lancelot, Crab, Mongoose

    ===

Generally speaking, I'm gravitating towards mechs that were very common among different factions (hence, some of the double orders). However, there's a few I would be willing to trade for something else to help meet this goal including, but not limited to:
    • Direwolf
    • Stone Rhino
    • Supernova
    • Timberwolf
    • Grendel
    • Elemental Stars
    • Archer
    • Exterminator
    • Mercury
    • Spider
    • my surplus Legendary mech (included with Star Colonel package)
    • my x2 surplus Omnimechs (included with Star Colonel package)
    • ... and any surplus stuff I get from the random salvage boxes.
If you guys see something you want and would like to trade, please let me know.
