For anyone who remembers and is interested in playing the 1998 remake of BattleZone by Activision, there is a community patch for the game that fixes compatibility issues with Windows 7. At 300 megabytes the patch is actually a full install of the game and includes a bunch of custom maps made by the community. You can find the patch on the download page at http://battlezone1.com/ For those of you who haven't played or heard of this game, in 1998 Activision came out with a remake of the classic BattleZone. The remake bears little resemblance to the original arcade game and is instead a completely new thing all its own. BattleZone features a hybrid FPS/RTS system where the player builds a base and army while piloting one of a handful of space tanks. Playable countries include USA, USSR and China. BattleZone was one of my first real games and is still one of my favorites. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to play the game with anyone on here who is interested. Final Note: While the installer seems to work correctly most of the time, you may or may not need to add the game exe to your data execution prevention exception list.
Rebellion went and re-released the game on steam after fixing some compatibility issues and sprucing up the graphics a bit. Figured I could revive the thread for that. It's on sale for 15.99 with a base price set at 19.99. Which is probably a bit high for a game from 1998. http://store.steampowered.com/app/301650/
