AMD RYZEN 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6 GHz (4.4 GHz Max Boost) MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI Gaming Motherboard GeIL EVO SPEAR 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 2080 Plus my old 750W supply and oddball collections of HDDs and SSDs scavenged from my old case. And a new full tower ATX case because my old one is a dustbunny warren that has the front held on by zip ties. I think it's gonna outperform the shit out of the old 1080p I'm using as a monitor. So that might be a subsequent upgrade at some future date.
Watch the Ryzen. One of my friends picked one up and didn't have a very good experience... might've been a lemon, but just make sure you research customer reviews on that CPU. Otherwise pretty sweet.
2080 is meant for browsing reddit and scrolling youtube feeds. I just played some Master of Orion II yesterday with it. It ran smoothly. Just replace 'rich kid' with whatever is appropriate
I bought the cheapest 50€ air compressor I could find. It still puts out 7 .. uh.. bars? Something. It blows air hard without making any puns and kicks that dust out. Just put some sticks or stuff some zip ties (open) on your fans so you won't accidentally damage anything. Oh and it's preferable to do this outside and not over your bed. Just saying. Really helps also with the new rig, if you're anything like me the primary purpose for the rig is not actually to play games but to remove and concentrate dust from the apartment so it can be cleaned with the compressor. It's not just that the compressor saves it's cost in pressure cans, it has a vastly superior pressure and a mighty roar so it really cleans the rig and can be used for other stuff too like filling tires and balloons. Because that's what you'll be doing 4 days a week, filling tires and balloons with it. Humm....
most likely caused by the seeming consistent requirement for motherboard bios flashing that none of the hardware indicates may be necessary and comes up rather infrequently on specific help requests. The 'Ryzen ready' motherboards almost all require a bios flash. Simple enough to do, but you have to prepare to do it, especially if you've only got the one PC or are sharing parts from your previous.
Update with photos. I took forever actually putting this together, but save migrating some drives and data it's up and running.
