Holy shit. EA is doing something. A lot more to the letter than that. But they are partnering with petroglyph who has a number of the Westwood devs who did work on the original games. https://www.reddit.com/r/commandand...qYJEZiXOLq7IbDxXAmFAXqzbUvlIgyTSK_r64l1TZ8uso
Glad I can always count on you guys for the positive feels. I don't know if anyone here has "high expectations", but there's nothing wrong with acknowledging something done right. Obviously, that's a huge stretch from saying "all is forgiven". You joke, but honestly, the industry would be better off if EA went back to its early days: (My favorite part of that video is where he says "At least they haven't ruined battlefront yet.") Will that ever happen? Unlikely, but not impossible. No one could have predicted the success of Deadpool under Fox production (nevermind getting a sequel), but it happened.
My only real expectations are updated graphics and some of the gameplay stuff from later games being in (like multiple build queues and ordering more than 1 unit at a time in whatever construction tab.).
So they had a reddit AMA on this, they're not sure what balance of remake vs remaster it will be. They make end up making fundamental changes in the name of modern features and playability, so I'll hold my breath until I see the final result.
I'm expecting more like the homeworld 2 remaster. Some control stuff was changed. Mostly good but I think some things not as well liked. Nothing game breaking.
"C&C Remastered! Now with enhanced gameplay features such as the new Tank Onslaught loot bundle that, for only $0.99, you can start every match with 3 medium tanks! Keep an eye out for next week's new DLC featuring a brand new map and unit, only $19.99!"

A bit troubling that EA isn't making this more of a priority; this is pretty much guaranteed to sell if they do it right. Makes me think that upper management still hasn't learned anything from the past few years.
Good point. EA could absolutely "pull a Nintendo" and build some revenue off re-releasing classic games, but for whatever reason I'm not sure (license/copyright issues? who knows?) they have utterly failed to do so up to this point.
