    Quit your job. :unamused:

Also... what are character restrictions? I didn't see those listed in the first post.

Maybe I can sneak MegaMek and Hamachi on the counter computer

My turns would be pretty long though, having to pause to deal with [strike]assholes[/strike] customers all the time.

Can't be much longer than mine, where I forget about it cause I'm doing forum junk, and people have to yell at me.

Did you guys ever reach a ruling on SoR only or other people allowed? I'm rather tempted to get in on this if there is a space available, but I understand if you're wanting to keep it clan only.

I'm interested in doing this, I can play pretty much any day of the week in the evening - late night. I'd like to play as a mech if at all possible

Well Magnus has been doing the campaign for months and he JUST OFFICIALY joined us. Jeez.

Oh and I love the dropships so fun to take out a assault mech in a single pass (sure it is gross overkill)

And I just learned that the princess bot can use aerospace in a air to ground. air to air it isn't that effective (works as if doing air to ground with its attack runs)

I have mixed feelings about that :unamused:. It'll be nice to have some competition, but its also nice to be the only guy up there.

Well what I mean is it tries to do it where your fighter is along its flight path as if you were in a ground unit not a aerospace/conventional fighter.

That'd be Magnus' call, as he's running this little show. BUT, as was pointed out, HE wasn't even a member when he started running it.

Oh yeah... sorry. Everything from the first post still applies. The Character creation sheet remains unchanged from what I remember.

It certainly isn't out of the question, but it will definitely depend on how many want to join. As I mentioned earlier, with this new influx of people I am definitely going to need to delegate some administrative tasks to others.

Oops. Sry bud. I answered that on the last page in a late edit without realizing we were on to page 10. Short answer: if it is just you, absolutely. If there are more... it's not a deal breaker, but I am definitely going to need to start delegating responsibility. Ultimately, it will come down to how many active lances we can handle logistically.

I welcome anyone willing to help.

Specifically, these are some of the positions/tasks i need help with:

    Campaign Planners
-Responsible for creating a set of missions as part of a single contract (will likely be a panel of admin working together on this)
-Creating oppositional force composition that is plausible, fair and fun (VERY difficult job)
-Creating roleplaying "special events" to test player's secondary skills (non-mech/aerospace/vehicle skills such as Small Arms combat and Scrounge)

    Lance Commanders
-Planning drop times during the week to meet with lance members and run missions (semi-autonomous, but need to work within the parameters set by the Campaign Planners)
-Recording post-battle info (debriefings) for purposes of tracking dynamic repairs and salvage
-Coordinating with lance members on how their mechs will be upgraded with lance allocated funds (credits are devided by lance)
    -Cheerleading

    Map Makers
-GOOD maps are very time consuming to make. We definitely need more variety of certain maps involving extreme terrain/conditions such as desert, volcanic, arctic, lunar, etc. We also could stand to have a few more temperate maps involving variable bodies of water or canyons. We will be standardizing sizes to 25x25 and 50x50 (subject to change). Those who understand the importance of making "organic" terrain could certainly help me in this regard. Maps that are designed to be "modular" (can be connected seamlessly with others) are also strongly encouraged.

    A Note On Custom Designs
-Oddly, this is the one thing I DON'T really need help with. For starters, if people have custom designs they wish to use, please keep in mind that MekHQ actually allows for full customization as part of the campaign. It will be up to your Lance Commander to authorize such a custom refit as it will require funding from that lance's credit. However, there may be instances where customizing canon units in MekHQ simply does not suffice. A primary example of this would be people who wish to include custom units as part of my Megamek Pack for purposes of using them in instant action pickup games (not campaign). I have two conditions for this to happen: (1) the new mech still needs to maintain the basic "feel" of its original canon design and (2) the mech needs to feel unique in design (within reason). This latter point can be subject to interpretation but is mainly there so we don't have everyone submitting 20 slight variations of the same mech every week.

Truth be told, if you have an "idea" for a mech, you need to justify it to me (or a panel of the admin) that your mech is worth the effort of adding (don't worry, I will be reasonable). In many ways, my Megamek Pack was created as a need to fill gaps in certain designs I felt were missing. Also, every single one of my designs has been given the full "fluff treatment"; all have Technical Readouts written that reasonably explain their existence in canon. While I don't require everyone to do this, I am strongly in encouraging people to make the effort to ensure their designs are lore friendly. If you are bad at writing fluff or don't know Battletech lore, we have many (including myself) that are willing to help you with that.

This is where we left off last month by the way:

I'm thinking we will probably do the last mission this Sat/Sun (to be announced). The last mission will give us good pretext for "acquiring" a new dropship (which we desperately need thanks to all these new players). After that, we will timejump to 3048 (i think... maybe 3047). Some of you may want to rename and re-age your pre-existing character if they go "geriatric" on you. If there are no serious objections, we will be rolling as a smaller "special forces" detachment of the larger SoR (think something like the MW4: Mercs campaign). Right now, I need a headcount of how many people can do Saturday or Sunday around 3pm EST.

    ---

Also, any new players who haven't done so already need to start thinking now about what they want to roll for their character. If you intend to play regularly, I strongly encourage you make one. We will need to get your character made BEFORE drop time so don't wait till the last minute. Check the links on the first post of this thread for all the tools you need. There are plenty of people on TS that can help you if you have trouble.

    ---

For your perusing pleasure, I have included some new files in the Megamek DropBox:
-Full Tech Readouts of some of my new designs that will be introduced with the ver2.5 Megamek Pack
-Heavy Metal Aero: this will let you aero-jocks customize your craft to your heart's content. However, keep in mind you will still need to manually create a new file in the Megamek format. I will post details on how to do this later. For now, at least you can start getting a feel for the designs.

    HM Aero link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xs2906hdn82sei1/INP7Oogc1A

    ---

Final note: I know I need to update the roster headcount on the first post too. Will try to do that ASAP... now time for me to sleep... zzzZZZ

Okay, I will be there for Sunday for sure, not quite sure if I can make Saturday. I should have my character rolled up by sometime tonight.

I can definitely do Sunday. Not positive on Saturday, not sure if our Shadowrun game is on or not.

What sort of "roles" are we needing for the group? Is everyone a MechWarrior besides the one (Hakiyah?) aerojock? Looking at the Lance Commander requirements, that shouldn't be a problem for me, if you're needing someone to step up. I'd like to give others the opportunity first though, to get them experience.

Edit: Hmmm, would it be better if I stayed as NPC/OpFor?

I see lots of question marks and "need to choose a role", not sure who's actually been playing. ;)
