We scrapped two Hetzer WAGs, left one with some minor armor damage and the devil's luck and one with some armor damage from running through Mrs MacDougal's house and a jammed AC20 when he couldn't get his shot off with Axe dead to rights. We lost two Patton MBT-A1s, one possibly salvaged but the Commander's was a fiery inferno. He took down their commander before they destroyed his engine and locked his turret, so he gave as good as he got. The status of the crews is unknown. We also may need to examine the gunners of Sergeant Kupe Basaik's Patton. The driver was spot on with no mistakes, but the gunners somehow missed a shot from ten feet with both tanks stationary and the Hetzer's ass just waiting for it. The Hetzers don't seem to have any problem backing their tanks into buildings and waiting for someone to walk into their crosshairs. Minimizing collateral damage may be tough if they continue to employ these tactics.
3rd ran into the following 4 Manticore Heavy Tanks. PPC, LRM10, and SRM6 1 Bulldog a LRM 20 and I think some short range stuff. 1 Manticore total destruction 1 Manticore crew ejected with no engine, armor, or tracks before we could finish him off. 1 Manticore retreated with engine and track damage Other Manticore and Bulldog retreated with no damage. Lost some armor and used some ammo but otherwise 3rd is good to go.
Beta lance of the MBT company engaged enemy armor forces along the city industrial park. The initial contact was an ambush that left the lance backing up in a hurry. We re-engaged a force that had 4 hetzers. A single hetzer survived the conflict, with the others trading thier lives and eliminating one of our patton A1s. Our final tally: Beta Lance: 3 Patton A1s with armor damage 1 Patton A1 destroyed (unsalvagable) Enemy forces: 3 Hetzers destroyed 1 Hetzers surviving
Last night, beta went against an Archer, trebuchet and i believe 2 or 3 hetzers. One of the hetzers was glanced and the trebuchet seemed to have damaged itself quite severely. Down about 30-40 %.
Xander and Fet stepped in for Gamma Lance (thank you guys). Xander = Hunchback and Fet = Centurion. Faced off against our wandering ronin Sentinel that was spotted earlier and apparently the rest of its lance (Mongoose, Jenner, and Firestarter). Killed the Mongoose but lost Fet's Centurion to the enemy when it was disabled by leg malfunction. Xander made it out alive just barely. It is suspected that the Centurion was intact enough that the ronin may use it against us if given enough time to repair it sufficiently. Further reports indicate that the now identified Manticore forces are at least company sized in strength. Current tally so far: x4 mech lances ~x3 Manticore lances (holding Thule City) ~x3 hovertank lances (holding Ringsbo) ~x1 Hetzer lances (holding Hawick) aerospace undetermined but believed to be squadron sized in strength (6) support vehicles of an undetermined amount have also been sighted at least one LRM focused bulldog has been spotted... possibly more operating within Thule City
3rd ran into the following Thursday evening 4 Manticore Heavy Tanks. PPC, LRM10, and SRM6 Results --- 3 Manticores total destruction Other Manticore retreated with no damage. Lost some armor and used some ammo but otherwise 3rd is good to go. Write up to follow tommorow.
I can't remember actually. I was about asleep by the time we finished. 2 of them suffered catastrophic ammo explosions (220+ damage) so I really doubt there is much left of those. The third one I just dont know will have to check with Magnus.
The one that wasn't obliterated had its crew compartment (front armor) cored. It is only so much slag now. On the bright side, we are hitting the ronin much harder now. With their forces dwindling, our job will only get easier.
Vehicles are very fragile in battletech. There is a very low chance of disabling one without completely destroying it.
We did disable one in the first drop. Crew bailed..but since we are VTOL only we dont hold the ground so didnt get the salvage. My concern is now that we have won twice with no loses Magnus is going to drop something fucking ridiculous on us next time to kick our ass. :unamusedcat:
The really crazy thing is that the VTOLs don't really feel that OP on paper. You could design very similar loadouts with light mechs or hovercraft. They are just apparently VERY effective at what they do (the inferno missiles being super effective against vehicles is a huge factor too). It will be interesting to see how the VTOLs fair against opponents designed to counter air units... mwhaha...
