Ok. So I bought CK2 in the steam sales for less monies that I would spend on an average lunch. Already the digital entertainment has far outlasted the average expectancy of a full stomach or middle level intoxication. Being no stranger to to Hearts of Iron series, I had my reservations about keeping up the relationships with dozens of vassals, so I started out as a lowly duke of Slesvig. My initial plan was to take over Lübeck and Mecklenburg within 10 years, well at least Lübeck. But my dear Father, King Svend II, kept calling up my forces. First in a failed attempt to conquer England, and since in war without end in the deep of eastern Europe. And this being CK2 it means that when you're rolling with the Kings campaign, your in-game persona is actually stuck with the mad hatter until he suffers inevitable defeat to the hordes of barbarians. So I decided to restart the game, with me as the King. Making decisions about what wars we should fight in! Starting out as a lamb, growing my economy and recruiting capacity, I soon found Lübeck to be too much of a ripe cherry. It was soon under my heel, but my support of a heathen revolt in Sweden turned out to be a losing cause. After Lübeck. Mecklenburg and the entire baltic seaboard was just waiting for my teenagers to become hardened warriors. As I was about to declare a holy war on the heathen chieftains, I discovered that my grandchild Olaf had a legitimate claim to the land. Screw religion I though, I'm fighting for the family, and within a week 4000 soldiers were landing on the shore. The campaign was a great succes. The beaten ruler of Mecklenburg came crawking offering his surrender on my terms. I accepted, and it was only then I discovered that I was the bastards grandfather on his mothers side, making any clain for the county of Mecklenburg fall to the fathers side of the family. A german duke! In rage and disgust I now called for an eastern crusade against the province of Courland. 2500 men were callled up and shipped to an uncertain destiny. The initial attack turned out well. I was even able to lay siege and conquer all major stronghold of the province. Then the estonians decided to join the fight! 4000 men came marching on my newly won province. I won it in 1082 and cultural resentment of me would last until 1104, so ther was no locals to levy. And that's how far I've come. My king is now known as "the Old", but I actually married the Queen Mother of Sweden, giving me a claim to the swedish throne. I'm considering bailing out on my baltic adventure to start a war on the swedes, before I lose my casus belli, when my king dies and his incompetent son Harald takes over. God knows I'll be facing a civil war by then.

I've been playing quite a bit of CK2 recently with a friend of mine. We're currently fighting over the claim of Barcelona dukedom, meanwhile fighting a religious holywar & also a war against France. It's really strange/weird how things happen in ck2, but I guess that's what keeps it entertaining.
Spoiler: Rise from your gwave! Anyways, with a bunch of us picking this game up for free recently, some of us have been getting a kick out of multiplayer shenanigans. Good news is that as long as the host has the expansions, everybody else can play with the expansions too! That said, I have no expansions myself, so I wont be doing any hosting any time soon. So who has what expansions?
I don't but if we get a lot of people who want to play, maybe that's something i will look into buying.
I've got this. Has anybody got a good "wtf do I do?" for it? I played the tutorial for about an hour and it was like "HO-kay, first thing you'll wanna do is make sure your line of succession is secure. You'll wanna make your life's ambition to be to find a wife, then to have a son, then holy crap there's all these courtesans and all of them want something and they've got eleventy million stats that do things I guess and everyone around you hates you and why can you only plot to murder one of them at a time and oh god being king is the absolute fucking worst just can't everybody leave me alone I just wanted to conquer the world!"
I own all of the expansions and have over 400 hours in the game. I'm willing to help anyone that have any questions.
Someone posted a video tutorial on the forum a few days ago. I will edit the link here when I find it. We should get a game going this weekend.
I would like to but I will probaby not be able to do a long session depending on when we start. We should at least be abe to get started. I guess we can also help anyone get started and go through the things that changes with expansions.
One of the largest expansions for Crusader Kings 2 get released today, Holy Fury! With it come's update 3.0 and it's alot. For example a small part is that there are now 63 new provinces in Africa and 112 new provinces in Steppes and Permya. I got it, I retook Jerusalem from the hordes. The pope then excommunicated me. I assassinated him, converted to paganism. 10/10 would worship Odin from the temple mount again.
