I take it that the separate controls thing means you could set cannons (if you have say 20mm and 37 mm on your plane) to separate buttons. and wikipedia mentions the twin mustang being able to carry 25 rockets...
I always thought that the twin mustang never got past prototype stage but apparently 270 or so production models were around during korea. And I think the first 3 air kills of that war (don't remember if they were migs or not. they were jets) were made by twin mustangs. just did a quick check. says first 3 air kills but only mentions what one of those was and that being a yak-11.
The Twin Mustangs was a sort of marvel of its age. It was really just a further development of the P-38G and probably a few bits and ideas stolen from the Zwilling-project (as was the norm during WWII). It's very nice to see the Mk XVIII make it's debut though, now we just need some bouncing Upkeeps for the Lancaster and we are good to go to Norway proper! ^^
