This game looks fucking dope. Supports up to 12 players for coop or deathmatch. I think it might be a good fit with our group. What do you guys think?

Some info from the store page:

A typical game session is anywhere between 10 minutes and 1.5 hours, strongly depending on which gamemode and map you play. Large cooperative or solo maps take longer (if you don´t die), while competitive matches are usually timed at 10-20 minutes.

No fixed classes, no pay-to-win! Experiment with various character builds without wasting your time. But you only get 10.000 points to spend on each character you make, so spend them wisely to find the coolest combination of skills and gear that suits you personally. Don´t worry though, you can re-stat or make a new char any time! Also as you gain ranks as a player, you unlock new cool items to give to your characters.

Play as a dog or robot:

    Conventional & unconventional:

Nothing feels as good as killing your enemy with a toilet plunger fired from your compound bow right at his face. You could have went for broadhead arrows or explosive arrows.. But you didn´t. They DESERVED a plunger to the face, that´s why.

CREATE YOUR OWN MAPS AND RULESETS WITH EASE

Dustwind is meant to be played the way YOU want to play it! Stay with the default maps and rules, or create house rules with just a few clicks. Enjoy cool maps created by others, or be a mapper yourself. Our user-friendly, Steam Workshop integrated map editor allows you to leave your mark on the game by expressing your creativity and sharing your work proudly and easily with the entire community. Power to the people!

Game is currently on sale for 14.99. If we get enough interest, we can add this to the recommended game list. I'm buying the game today. I see a lot of potential here.

Congrats, this may be the first time we've ever agreed a game looks cool.

yes. Based on reviews, I'm reasonably confident there is something there we will like, but I need to try it out first before I can recommend it to our community.

The only thing I can see making me a bit cautious is the heavy reliance on player-made content. That can go really well, or really badly depending on how many people are actually creating things.

I could be missing something, but did not get the impression that there was a "heavy reliance" on player made content. I had the impression there is a full game there and the included editor is just icing on the cake. But that's a good point if it turns out to be true. I will take a closer look at that when I have time and let you know.

Started playing today. First impressions after one hour of play:

The tutorial is good; entertaining and does well explaining the basics.

Controls feel tight and easy enough to understand. When in doubt, hold H for a quick keyboard visual reference for controls. As far as I can tell, all controls can be edited to your liking.

    Huge amount of customization.

    Other Good Parts:
    • New equipment unlocks as you play the game and level up.
    • There is an official Discord channel for the game that offers help and tech support.
    • We can host our own rooms or join existing ones.
    • There is both auto-matchmaking and server browsing.
    • You can join and leave in the middle of a game.
    • Game allows for solo play if you want it.
    • Difficulty is very adjustable in setting and map choice.
    • Lots of helpful (and funny) tooltips.
    • Hosting a private game works.
    • Official map selection currently (most support up to 12 players):
      • 12 Co-op maps
      • 4 Last Team Standing
      • 2 Team Deathmatch
      • 2 Free 4 All
      • 2 Capture the Gas
      • 2 Territory Killswitch
    • Discord channel can help with recommended player maps.
    • You can control more than one character (although controlling just one is easier)
    • You can focus fire on body parts for various effects (like in Fallout).
    • Friendly fire is possible (and hilarious).
    • You can revive downed players before they bleed out.
    • Presentation is functional, but very indie; do not expect and fancy cinematics.
    Some Less Good Parts:
    • Game got stuck running 1st time I closed it (had to restart computer to restart game). It shut down correctly in later attempts.
    • Map selection doesn't always load correctly; selecting other menu tabs seemed to fix it.
    • Animation can be a little jittery sometimes (especially grenade throws), but I think that was mostly because the guy I was playing with had a slow connection. Needs more testing.
    • Character progression seems to be entirely loot based, but you can adjust skills in character creation to suit your playstyle.
    • No dialog interaction with NPCs as far as I can tell. Seems to be mostly just a tactical game set in a Fallout-like universe.
    • Does not seem to have an overarching campaign like Fallout 2 or Xcom.
    In Summary:
    • Overall, Dustwind is a great indie title with good controls and good influences from Fallout Tactics (esp. the setting, the humor, and some of the combat). I get the impression it also borrows some ideas from Jagged Alliance.
    • While this game can certainly be enjoyed solo, the real enjoyment comes from playing this with a group.
    • There is plenty of content here for an indie game, but no long running singleplayer campaign.
    • There are a ton of game modes (both PvP and PvE) that really makes the multiplayer excellent.
    • The map editor allows for almost a D&D experience where a DM could create scenarios for players to play through.
    • I think this will be a good fit for our community (especially because it allows up to 12 players in one session), but for people who still have reservations about it, I recommend picking it up when it is on sale.

Also, if you weren't convinced already.

    ....

The game has codpieces for your character to wear.
