The shortage creates the demand though.

There was also a article by Steven hawking a while ago on the coming hundred years or so will be humankinds hardest time to not self annihilate.

When the world ends your not invited to my tree fort.

On a more serious note, probably time to finish my next AR build along with buying canned foods and bottled water.

Prepping is overrated. Simple math would tell you you'd need a fucking warehouse to feed a normal-sized family more than a few months. The only way to truly "prepare" for a total economic collapse is to buy land you can farm and learn how to keep animals/crops alive long enough to eat them.

Then I'm going back to upstate NY. I already know what plants to eat and where to find all of the good berries, and deer out there are everywhere, got damn vermin. And I also know where there are some pretty good freshwater springs. I'll just have to brush up on my man-trapping and I'll be covered.

For the most part it is. watching the prepper end of the world shows makes me laugh half the time. You know the ones with the crazy bunkers and all that silliness.

basic or common sense prepping is actually more along the lines of just increasing your pantry size by 5 times while using a "first in first out" guide line for food.

you also shouldn't underestimate the power of having a few 25lb bags of rice. which I can buy for 13 dollars right now, little more then 50 cents to a lb.

Advertising, product placement, futures speculation... you can certainly create the impression of demand a number of ways. You just can't artificially create or limit it the way you can with supply.

    But, y'know, animal spirits.

there is deer overpopulation in mecklenburg county NC. hunting with a gun is illegal in mecklenburg but the deer population is so bad that they made it so one day of the year now people can hunt with a gun.

maybe if people didn't kill all the apex predators there wouldn't be a deer overpopulation problem.

the balance of nature.. who needs it right.. humans sure think they don't.

it's more driven out then killed. I mean pretty much the whole county is developed. sure there are forests hell the (human) population density is about 2,000 per square mile. actually hunting of any kind is pretty much illegal in this county because of the human population.

so there are more deer in NC then there are people (individually) in rhode island, montana, delaware, both dakotas, alaska, vermont and wyoming. smoky get down here and eat some deer.

also there were 8 deer in my front yard sunday night. and where i live is not a heavily wooded area.

completely illegal to hunt, run or chase deer in 6 counties and parts of 5 other counties. it's illegal to hunt bear with dogs in 21 counties. completely in 16/17 and parts of 4/5 others. confused because one is (per local law). whatever the hell that means.

so that's the real reason why the empire tried to keep the destruction of the death star out of the news. also another reason i like the empire better.

When's the last time you saw a wolf in the wild? Wolves are a very important part of the ecosystem. But they were hunted to almost extinction to around a few hundred from about 150 thousand. I also use the term hunting very lightly as it was mostly in part because of a wolf extermination program started by the U.S. Government that mainly used poison pills, gas, and other very none hunting technics to just kill wolves. But hay at least we have around 4 thousand now in total in the U.S., unlike other countries that did extermination programs that killed all there wolves into extinction.
