Its an interesting art direction, but a bit too Nordic for me. Some of the wall textures look a bit... shitty. Same w the horse and wolf skin textures. So is Amon Amarth making the soundtrack?
Closer, but the weapons still don't look as much like those He-man plastic swords we had as kids as they do in Elder Scrolls.
You guys remind me of last night's episode of South Park where Stan turns 10 and everything turns to shit. Food, music, video games, people talking, etc. It all looks and sounds like a turd. He turned into a cynical asshole. It sucks that you guys are right. I just want to believe that Skyrim will be good. http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s15e07-youre-getting-old
I just recently gave this another try. My first try was cut short when the villagers took offense to me setting their chickens on fire, which resulted in my immediately trying it again, after about 6 deaths I decided that I would not play a game where chickens could not be set on fire. So anywise, I reinstalled and started to play a bit, all the while ignoring my inner need to set domesticated fowl on fire, and it was sorta fun. So I went online in search of a better UI, and stumbled upon the PC mod world for this game. Holy crap, there was a lot of mods. So now I have about 20 mods running and it made the game amazingly better looking, and more fun to play, more blood, smart followers, high res textures, complete village revamps, etc etc. Pretty cool!
Hey guys lets release halfassed game with great modding tools so people will fix stuff for us, its been the same with every elder scrolls since 3rd.
I see that as something really good. Community modded games often end up with great results, and something most new games do not allow anymore.
You can't knock Bethesda for what they give us though. Given the large scale of the games they've made, a few missing features can be forgiven. Plus, the fact that they release all of the tools needed to add pretty much anything, absolutely free, speaks highly for them
Ok, i can agree that few missing things can be forgiven, but skyrim pc port was one of the worst ive seen. Modding tools felt more like an excuse to not focus on pc release then anything else.
Hmm I've played my wife's game a bit on the XBox and I prefer the PC version by far. The only think I really find a bit annoying is the inventory interface. I guess since the last game I played from these guys was Daggerfall, I see this a huge improvement. LOL
Check out Morrowind on steam. Some parts of it feel like crap from modern standards (combat...ugh), but the overall design is still the best in the series.
Is necromancy in effect here? mods make all the difference. playing elder scrolls on the console is for losers. It is SUPER old, but... http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3632/ i made this WAY back before the Creation Kit was out. It was one of the few armors at that time that added something new and lore-friendly without being totally game breaking. (I'm looking at you, Final Fantasy fan modder). Ironically, I stopped modding right as the Creation Kit was released. one day I would like to return to make a new follower that i've been passively developing. Something very unique and original; a powerful femme fatale like character who could possibly be a threat or ally (depending on the player) with a little plot twist thrown in for good measure. Myuu or Barbie... i might need to borrow your voice if I ever get it going.
Nah, its just that i hate when developers are lazy like that. Dont get me wrong, i love elder scrolls lore, its just that the implementation always feels off somehow. It didnt hurt that much with TES3, it had great equipment and spell system, weapon variety and interesting world. Something that Skyrim lacked. Change is ok, but only when its for the better.
Im also playing Skyrim again after starting a new Character for the x-th time. I never got far because I always ended up in the far end of a cave with a lot of precious loot and I didnt want to leave anything behind, but I also didnt want to crawl out. So I usually postponed it to another day and didnt touch it again for such a long time that I always lost any connection to the character . However this time I am using an hell lot of Realism Mods and Gameplay overhauls. Especially Frostfall which adds the effect of cold and being wet to the game (No more swimming around naked in a mountainrive at -20° and feeling just fine^^). Also I have Basic Needs to add the eating and sleeping aspect and I also use SkyRealism - Time and Travel to disable fast Traveling and to make the days longer (now one ingame day are six real hours). Also Requiem. This mod is just awesome and make the whole game and combat more realistic/oldschool. Now for example armor and shields are actually a lot more usefull and required to survive because weapon do a lot more damage. Also arrows are now very deadly if you have no armor or a shield. And the enemys have no fixed levels they no more level with you. Also if the enemy has a hard shell like a mudcrab it counts just as armor and they take a lot more hits. Paired with the fact that Health Regeneration is gone I have found myself to even dodge mudcrab attacks^^. And I also have about 7 GB of Texture Mods installed . Overall the game is now a lot more fu for me and it actually feels almost like an different game to me now. Im am really happy Bethesda included Modding Tools, otherwise I probably would have never played this game so much!
