We were talking tonight about the possibility of getting a group Fantasy grounds account. The thought is if we have a separate steam account and a separate paypal account. This would be used to purchase and maintain a Fantasy Grounds account that could be used by those running a D&D game. The thought is, whoever wants to contribute, we can reduce the cost and get everyone access to more books. I know I will be picking up the Monster manual and the dungeon masters guide regardless. However, if we pick things through Fantasy grounds and get a bunch of people to contribute, we can get more. On the extreme end, we can get the Ultimate license, and all of the core rule books (DMG, PHB,MM, Mordekeims, Sword Coast, volo's guide and Xanthar's guide) for $327. If 10 people contributed that would be 32.70 each. For reference the PHB is about $29. So the thought is for not much more than what most people would spend on the PHB, we can get a VTT and access to all of the core rules. Just a thought. It would absolutely NOT be said if you cannot pay, you do not get to play. Anyone who wants to play, can certainly play. It really depends on if we have enough people for it to make sense to buy everything, or the things that everyone wants.
I'm in. Like Ghizmo said, no one will be turned away who can't pay. However, I would encourage everyone who has any interest in D&D to help us out here by ONLY paying what you can afford (and don't feel pressured to give large amounts). Also, there is no statute of limitations on this. We can take as long as we need to get the funds together and you don't have to give all at once. No donation will be too small. The idea is that this is an investment into our community here. The game assets would be linked to an account controlled by the Skjaldborg and what we get would stay available to our community. I am working with Dihm to set up a Patreon account (or something similar) to facilitate this. With these donations we are making a promise to all of you that we will continue to be here and work to make this community the best it can be.
Keep in mind, this is not a done deal. We only do this if we get enough people AND it is something we want to use. I am going to do a one month of the ultimate to try it out and may use it for our next game.
Are you meaning everybody who "donates" gets to use the GM potion?! if so I'm so in. I've wanted to GM in Fant Grounds for a while now.

So if you GM, you can host others to play for free... so we donate to one account, and who ever is "using" the account is the GM, and has access to all the books and stuff. the Free accounts, have access to what the gm shows them, but doesn't have any of the "campaign" stuff
