We had a bad storm here last night. When I woke up, apparently downtown had flooded. These pictures are about a mile from my house. I've only got some water in my basement. Nothing major, but the last time we got flooding like this, my grandmother was a child.
that is crazy, sorry to hear you got water in the basement but glad to hear its only that and not much worse!
Penn Yan, New York. Its in the Finger Lakes Region. Start at Lake Ontario. Look down you see the city of Rochester. Then move to the right and down you see the Finger Lakes, Cayuga and Seneca. Where the "Seneca Lake" label is Keuka Lake. Penn Yan is at the top of Keuka Lake. This is all Flood Damage. It started to rain at 8pm EST and many roads are washed away, basements flooded, and at least one building destroyed.
You reckon the damages will take more than an afternoon to fix? Damn. That's a bad one but luckily everyone's alright.
I've got a lot of friends and family living throughout that region of NY. I've heard they've been getting some crazy storms lately. Glad to hear you guys are alright.
Quick update: It hasn't rained in over 12 hours and water is still running down the middle of my street like it's the middle of a storm. Weather forecast calls for scattered rain tomorrow and thunderstorms again Friday. Should be an interesting weekend. Even through all our advancement in technology, it's still amazing to see what nature can do. Stay safe guys!
Now because of all the mud going into the water supply we need to conserve water for at least the next 48 hours. As the mud as clogged up the water treatment plant here. Hound found this.
