    cool

theyll probably do what they always do and partition the 500gb hdd into 2 partitions

theres a spare slot for another hdd or ssd and maybe another memory slot since you got the 12gb

keep the power transformer cool, ive burnt up one

hopefully they used a different USB 3.0 controller than mine as mine (1 port) only supports 3.0 devices and no 3.0 hubs stupid afterthought chipset, but its nice with my 1TB 3.0 external drive

    software: i run

    Kaspersky Internet Security 2012
    Malwarebytes Pro
Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus
    Acronis Disk Director
    Nero Platinum 11

Im ripped up between two laptops and I cant decide.

My First Choice is the Asus N56VZ [Beware links are in german :D]

    Specs:
    Intel Core i7 3610QM
    Nvidia GT650m 2 GB GDDR5
    8 GB DDR3 RAM
    1920 x 1080 Full HD Disaplay NON-GLARE 300 cd/m²

    Price: 1000 €

Why i prefer this one? Because of the display and the materials. NON-Glare Displays are darker than nomral displays and to less cd on them can ruin your gameplay experience.
Also the Laptop is with exception of the bottom and around the Diplay out of metal. Also the ventilation and cooling of the laptop is better made and shouldnt need cleaning often.

The Alternative is the MSI GE60 - i547W7H

    Specs:

    Intel Core i5 3210M
    Nvidia GT650m 2 GB GDDR5
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
    1920 x 1080 Full HD Disaplay NON-GLARE 245 cd/m²

    Price: 800€

Why I would choose this one? First and biggest argument it costs 200€ less. Second argument , there is an offer which grands you additional 4GB RAM for free. Also the i5 3210m should be enough for the Nvidia Gt650m.
the drawbacks are the display with worse contrast and only 245 cd/m² and the worse cooling system. Also a huge drawback is the laptop is made out of black shiny plastic that attracts dust and dirt like magic and also looks worse.

So the question is if a better Display, cooling system and a much more elegant and practical case + small advantage in the CPU are worth the 200 € or not?

    What do you think?

Because of the over pricing? The cheap, shitty components that Dell uses? Their general ugliness?

If its a gaming laptop, I'd go with the better display. The I7 is probably also more future proof. If you have money concerns obviously thats a factor, but if you can afford it I'd probably go with that.

FWIW I bought the ASUS G74 last year and love that thing. It's a beast and runs everything I throw at it with ease. The only issue I've had is that I managed to break a USB port when pulling out the connector for my cooling stand. The keyboard and touchpad are OK but I use a wireless keyboard and mouse with it 99% of the time.

I loved my ASUS so much I bought my wife it's baby brother (forget the model number) for her to use for writing and multimedia consumption.

I'm fairly confident you can't go wrong with an ASUS.

I second Skoll's assessment, ever since Dell bought Alienware its gone down into the toilet same goes for Voodoo since HP bought em although not as bad

ASUS is the best bang for the buck especially since they changed the keyboard from the one in my G73JW

This Christmas Im looking at either getting a G75 or build a new desktop as my desktop is rather dated (AMD FX-62 w/ nVidia GTS250)

Really leaning towards the G75 as its way to handy for me to have a laptop to take anywhere with
