So far I've almost only gamed with the Razer Abyssus... it has 3 buttons... that is... FAR too few to play Mechwarrior Online in my head..

I'm finishing my internship today and got to spend some bucks on some equipment, so I chose the mouse Logitech Proteus Core G502.

Does anyone have any experience with this mouse? Good ways to setup the 11-12 buttons so I will get a nice Mech experience? Anything related is appreciated..

    Thank you! :)

I am working on my 2nd Razor Naga in 5 years. How did you ever play with only 3 buttons :p

No idea about the G502. I'm running the G500 with five buttons, that always seems to be enough for me. I generally only run 4 weapon groups at maximum, and use the fifth button for TS comms.

Amazingly poorly!... but that might also be lack of skills :)

I think I would have a problem getting used to pressing buttons to talk... on the other hand, then I might not be super-annoying when I curse to myself...

can confirm, naga is amazing. razer sometimes gets a bad rap but im not sure why, ive used blackwidows, orbweavers, and their mice for...10yrs maybe? never had any of them die on me or any issues. that being said, logitech is great as well. if you have other logitech peripherals that use their software (keyboards, headset, etc) then go with the logitech. i'm a fan of sticking with one brand just to minimize the software needed to run them all efficiently

Yep. I even still have the 8 year old G5. Only thing wrong with it is the braiding on the cord wore away in a few spots. Using it at work daily though.

I have a Logitech G 700s at the moment. Best mouse I've ever had, by far.

Pretty sure the 500 is just the wired version of that.

well if Razor (or Logitech for that matter) would come out with a gaming mouse that includes the frictionless scroll wheel and is (preferably) wireless I may update my mouse. Until then, I will not sacrifice my frictionless scroll wheel for anything short of complete failure of mouse. (which will only be sacrificed for the length of time it takes me to replace it.)

Are you talking about the button for the mouse wheel that lets it free spin?

there's free spin, and then there's frictionless spin, every time I've had to replace my mouse I've only ever been able to find certain specific breeds of Logitech with a true frictionless wheel.

Pretty sure the G500/700 is a frictionless wheel. When I scroll in that mode it takes about 2 minutes to stop, from, I"m assuming, air friction.

I have G700 and it's the best mouse I've ever had. It's pretty similar to Trev's 500 and Hakija's G700s is nearly identical.

Typically I set up LMB + RMB and the 4 thumb buttons for weapons groups. Depending on what I was running I might make two thumb buttons control Tag, one turns it permanently on and other one releases it. Essentially make a macro where you delete press and one where you delete release.

With Autohotkey etc. you can create some really complex macros to combine with it.

For the three extra index finger buttons, I have the front most set for 2-3 sensitivity levels so it's easy to switch between sniping and close combat. If I run with 3 then one is 'scouting' that allows really rapid turning. The 'profile' button is of course for switching whole profile, if I were really into a specific game I'd have whole different profiles for that particular game.

I've used this one extensively for 2 years in programming as well and I have copy, paste, delete, select all etc. behind various buttons. I also need to scroll a lot and it shows no signs of wear and is really precise. There's also the release switch that allows really fast scrolling of documents.

I highly recommend, G502 looks to be based on the same base design as these other mouses and I assume that the quality is similarly good.

Well usually I'm a Razer fanboy... but I just think I like the look of them. I'm not really into logitech orRazer anymore, so the manufacturer doesn't mean much to me.. a few extra software doesn't bother me much.. I just hope the blue light in my new mouse is the same blue as my razer keyboard (but then again, I'm colorblind and would probably not notice the difference).
I just hope that I get a decent mouse ... if I don't, I haven't payed anything for it :) Just wanted your opinions :)

I have the Logitech G700s (like Haki). I think its the best gaming mouse I've owned. Lots of buttons, they are all programmable. You can use it wired or wireless.

I may go look it up, when my current mouse eventually dies, though, it's probably not also wireless, which is the other thing I prefer... I've lost far to many wired mouse to chair wheels...

I shall look into it, my current mouse is the performance MX Darkfield, I have had no wants with it but theoretically more buttons, however I'm comfortable with 4 and I don't PTT on my mouse.
