So today my new roomate said. he've started to get text messages saying what type of car he has and his shirt color. Somebody seems to be looking for somebody named kim, His name is Mitch. They seem to think we took kim from him, and are hiding her here? My roomate's name is not mitch or kim, we don't know anybody named mitch or kim. I've called the cops they said well theres nothing we can do. Then here comes the kicker ready? MY PHONE started getting texts. I called the cops again said I'm scared can you please send somebody here, they've said what color shirt I'm wearing, and I got worried. I started to shake a little. All webcam's have been unplugged and the wifi pass code has been reset. I've locked down mac addresses and blocking all other access to the emta. Any other suggestions?
contact your neighbor, if you know them, call your phone company and tell them you're receiving threatening texts from the number and see if they can block it. Chances are it's a prank, but better safe than sorry. Also contact your ISP and see if there has been any suspicious activity towards or from your IP
If this turns out to be a friend pranking you, you probably have legal recourse for ending them rightly. But got damn, stay safe, Fluffy.
well update is the guy on the phone said he found kim and is sorry that he had the wrong number and wouldn't believe us. But also the roomate is no where to be found. he got scared and left the house the other day, and hasn't shown back up. I dont know if he ran back to his mom's house or not, they are Vietnamese and don't speak English, so communication is hard. Kinda sucks to cause he just paid rent and like if he's not going to use it, I should give it back to him...
Holy shit, this is pretty messed up. By any chance... did the text guy say he found Kim around the same time as your roommate disappearing?
actually yes. Something I find odd, but honestly I can't do anything I've reached to the roomie's parrents / family, but they haven't responded to me either. It's not like I can go out and look. Monday I'll file a missing person's report if nobody gets back to me, but meh to be honest I barely know the guy.
I think I'd just move to another place at this point. The guy could also have some mental illness or maybe human trafficking which he ran from them with some money and then went back because of his family being there as well or something. Lots of possibilities Some of them scarier than others
