Apparently Gaijin threatened to ban a well known youtuber if he exposed WT's problems with wall hacking.
I happen to know that hacked rangefinders and "Aimbots" (a hack to re-inserts the lead reticule in RB/Sim) are also a thing. Strangely, mostly practiced by T34/85 and T34/100 drivers and very prevalent at higher BR's. BR6.7 to 8.0 is utterly rotten with it, and it's mostly Russian players (no, not the nationality of the player, I mean the in-game nation's adherents) because the 85mm is a tough gun to use and the Air players feel they are "outperformed" by Luftwaffe players. There's a few youtubers who actually did videos entirely around this. MikeGoedBoom and a few others spring to mind.
I'm sure you get some people in the air doing it too, I've had too many run ins with people who are just fucking deadly accurate at all times in RB
I took a break today from studies to play about 6 matches in WT. My team lost everysinglefuckingone in a row. Was getting sniped through trees (even on lowest graphic settings) and matchmaker made getting a fair fight an impossibility. This isn't fun... and I'm beginning to wonder if it ever significantly was. I'm officially done with this shit. Fuck Gaijin. Fuck War Thunder. Fuck "historically-based" PVP-centered games. Fuck arena combat FTP model in general. I will only play this with friends from this point on and I can't justify spending another dime on this russian trash.
I rarely encounter something that i would call cheating. I don't know if that's just because i play mostly sim or that i have been lucky in that regard.
Being in the GMT timezone, I've noticed there's "peak time" for stupid and there's actually fun times - take note on the the amount of players online and at around 35k you can have fun. As a fun experiment, and to illustrate what I mean, do yourself a favor - you want to win 50/50 games without lifting a finger? Play Russian for 6 games in a row. You want to bleed and sweat just to get Roflstomped? Play British. There's a wierd Rock-Paper-Scissor-STALIN dynamic happening, and the ballistics are also still not even acceptably accurate (near-penetration spalling, cold spalling, hot spalling, how wet stowage works, crew injuries/effectiveness, etc) but alas we will have to wait and see how they respond. It's still an awesome game, but it's a solo player's nightmare. TeamWork is luckily OP enough to compensate against cheaters.
