2 hours to learn a game? what? it only takes a few minutes to learn the controls if its a type you've played before right? I mean in FPS games arn't 95% of the controls the same? probably the same with most of the sports games (basketball to basketball, american football to american football, soccer/football to soccer/football, hockey to hockey etc.)
I keep telling anyone willing to listen that a game studio's heart dies when it becomes run by people who hate games. EA is a perfect example of a company where the decision makers don't know the fuck they're talking about. It's run by plebs ffs.
Hey, you. Yeah, you. Yeah, you Richard. Fuck you. Sad days when you read crap like this and remember the days couple decades ago when EA was respected publisher. *Opens a cold drink* Oh, well...
Come on, EA *did* manage to find a good recipe for sports games and allegedly for simple arcade fps shooters. Then they've written down the formula for the original successes as EA Codex Sportis and Codex Shootis. Any deviations from the Codex is heresy and will be purged. Long live Shareholders on their golden throne. With the money they make they produce a thousand games that they sacrifice to sustain the exec's corrupted vision of what games and gamers are like: "Our only two real problems with SimCity franchise are that the maps are way too big to be filled in 2 hours and people can play the game even if our servers are down or if they're on a laptop that's not hooked to net. Those are the things we will fix. Also, who really even cares about how to run a city economically, let's just make houses that produce 10k simoleons per second so you can more easily fill the shrinked map in 2 hours. Oh, and you have to have online neighbors like Facebook friends and send invites to people" "Hey, that company is making deep games and they're making tons of money. Let's buy them, fire them and start making public statements that genres like space sims are dead. If we're the only ones making games, our shitty games will look that much better relatively speaking." - I fucking loathe corporations where people who design and decide over games with the background of "I never play games, I study hard". I mean, seriously, what does a fucker who thinks law and economics is genuinely more interesting than games know about making games?
EA truly deserves the "Worst Company in America" award they've been receiving the past couple of years.
Yes, it is one thing to just suck at what you do but they truly mastered the art of not allowing people to avoid being shat upon by them. Most of the time when a game company creates a steaming pile of shit people can simply steer clear of it. EA is this big giant in the sky that uses it's hands to keep people from leaving and then takes a dump into the middle of the crowd and laughs.
