Sorry! Missed posting yesterday. I skipped Wednesday because I couldn't be arsed, then Thursday was Heineken day. It was okay. I'm not actually sure I can tell the difference between this and Yuengling, but that may because its been a couple of weeks and I don't remember that well. I'm noticing a trend here. Lagers have little real flavor, but I can drink and enjoy them, Ales are bitter as hell and make me want to throw up. Pilsners take everything I don't like about Ales and make them ten time worse.
You have not had the right ales then. A lot of ales are bitter, but try some belgian ales and I think you will be suprised. Stay away from IPAs.
See here we disagree, I'm huge fan of IPA's. I love the subtle bitterness at the first taste and the aftertaste can be godly. But if you're not used to ales I would recommend going for the sweeter IPA's out there such as Sierra Nevada or Liberty Ale.
