So I looked through the forums (albeit rather quickly) in an attempt to find a place to post an introduction. Since I didn't find one I figured I would just make a new thread to do it personally. By all means if I missed a thread that has such a purpose, my bad. Although, I did some of this in the application I figured I would take a moment to do so here. One of the reasons I suppose is because I really do not want to seem like the kind of guy who just throws down an application and then disappears from existence without another post.

So I'll just say a brief little bit about myself. I'm Hunter, and I'm 23 years old. I've always loved gaming but I've been particularly drawn to strategy and first person shooters over the years. These hobbies also extend into other activities and have led me to be an avid paintballer and reader of science fiction and fantasy novels. Those three things are by far the bulk of my hobbies. I suppose something else that could be cool to know is that I do the Tough Mudder (http://toughmudder.com/ if you haven't seen or heard anything about it, its a hell of a good time).

That being said, I will be upfront in saying that I know relatively nothing about the battletech universe aside from the research I have done over the past several days and I am anxious to learn more. In my limited time I've looked into overviews of all of the great houses, as well as the FRR. After I had read up on them all I found the FRR the was the easy choice for me. There is that sort of underdog feel that they have to them, but the whole idea of the vikings in mech.s throwing off their oppressors is just too badass to ignore. I was wondering if anyone had good resources that could help me become more familiar. In particularly I'm interested in a general chronology and major events that would help me become more familiar with how the universe all fits together. I've seen that there are many novels and other books, and while that volume of reading doesn't intimidate me long term I am looking for something more immediate to give me an overview. From there, if anyone could recommend good/pertient novels to start from, I would be grateful.

Edit: In hindsight I see that this is probably misplaced and should have gone in the off-topic. My apologies

sarna.net is the Battletech wiki, it's a bit incomplete but still has a LOT of information. For this game the time period you need to look into is 3025-3050, also known as the Succession Wars, War of 3039, and Clan Invasion eras. The are a ton of different mechs and weapons designed after that but they won't be in MWO. http://www.solaris7.com/ can help you narrow the search, you can go to the tech readouts and customize a search for mechs available in that time period.

It's okay, we do have a lot of threads going. There's an introduction thread around here somewhere, but I think it got buried. Either way, welcome to the Borg. As far as the BT Universe goes, all you have to remember is that the Snakes are bad, the FRR is awesome, and the Caps are crazy lol.
