Hi everyone! Just thought I'd share the good news! I applied to the University of Nottingham for Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. I missed the grade I needed by one point and got the decision back today (the university didn't reject me immediately because I had a "near miss" in my grade). "Blah blah blah Unfortunately we could not offer you a place on the course." "However we are pleased to offer you an unconditional place on the Sociology BA course" :/ Had to discuss it with my parents and friends for a while then decided to take them up on their generous offer. So I'm off to do Sociology at Nottingham in September! Anyway, there has to be a point for this thread, so what better than to share some university experiences? Has anyone here done Sociology at some level and can tell me how they found it? Thanks all! -Deathwatch PS: David, I will be getting a job while I'm there. Don't worry. I'm not going to be a total slacker/social parasite
Congrats! Well... I've not done Sociology, but I was in Video Game Design and Development course at International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto. I will tell you this though Deathwatch.... College/University are by far better than High School. That's how I found it at least.
At least 100x better, in my opinion I'm in psychology, and have taken some sociology courses. They were really fascinating, you should have a great time
Congratulations. Most Socio I ever did was an intro course as an elective. My prof dropped his pants, lit up a cigar, and had his hot teaching assistant mix him a martini while he chatted with us one day.
Gongrats, Deathwatch! I'm an engineer so not much sociology stuff for me, though I love discussing psychology and philosophy with my friends and relatives.
Congrats! And if you ask me, sociology is both more interesting AND more practical, so I think it will work out in the long run.
Congrats mate! I never really had that much exposure to the subject myself personally, but it sounded interesting enough.
Did she at least understand the social and cultural conventions that had led her to become that? Or was she super ethnocentric and was generally bitter?
Congrats man. I like some others went to a science and engineering school. We had some of our required "other" classes and I took a few Sociology classes. To me, they were way way better than psych. But, congrats again
