I want to play Arma again. It's without a doubt my favorite game and i honestly miss playing it with you guys.
While we haven't always been successful with it, I have always had fun when we have been playing it.

If we start playing again, i do have some idea of what to go for but there is no real point in thinking to much about it until we know that atleast someone else is interested in playing. So, is there any interest in it. Is there anyone other then me who wants to play Arma again.

I would be up for playing every once in a while. But it would have to be something fairly quick to start, I think one of the big problems is startup for Arma seemed to take forever. While I like some of the mods and I things, I think it would be better to stick with Vanilla if you are going to try to get people involved again.

A quick startup is possible as long as everyone is there on time and ready to go.

Yes, it will be vanilla. I wouldnt start considering mods until we feel like we have had our fill of the vanilla content.

I could be game, but time is getting tighter for me. I might be able to do a bi-monthly thing. There's some guys I know that tend to play at least once a week, if you were interested in rolling with some good operators.

I'm hoping for something abit more regular then bi-monthly but join us as often as you can.

About the guys you know, maybe. I don't know how they play or if our groups will fit togheter. I'm already asking around with different groups so i will most likely arrange alot of the things myself but it could be worth trying atleast once.

They typically play pretty mil-sim like. Calling direction, buddy teams, fireteams, etc. Their play times are pretty variable, basically whenever at least four of them are online and not busy.

If the DLC is affordable now I could be convinced to get that. Probably wait for a sale, but I could reinstall the base game and play this with you guys. I can always make room on my pc by uninstalling a certain EA game for a bit.

That would be great. While its not on sale right now, they do tend to have sales fairly often.

To keep the ball rolling, i would like to hold our first game session fairly soon. I'm thinking of doing it next weekend but it depends on if enough are available to do anything.

To be honest, weekends during the day are going to be very hard for me. I can try, but more than likely I am not going to be able to make it. I know that is hard with the time zone difference. Next weekend I have family coming in to town.

I can understand the enthusiasm for ARMA. Certainly, I nor anyone else here can tell people how they should spend their time. That being said, this thread raises a lot of questions that need to be addressed:

I don't understand why we are going down this road again. We've already been here. You said so yourself that Squad was a "better option then ARMA". Why are you suddenly jumping to ARMA when you've been talking about Squad for months? Why have you not instead planned more Squad activities? What has changed your opinion?

For all its great potential, ARMA has always been a fairly niche game with our group. The game offers an incredible amount of customization, but it has always failed to attract any consistent interest with inexperienced players; the game is just too damn complicated for most people. We have talked as a group many, MANY times about alternatives (Squad, Insurgency, etc.) that still offer a mil-sim experience that aren't as overbearing for inexperienced players. Aspius, you are the main reason why Squad and Insurgency are even on the current poll. Why are you asking this now? If you had lost faith in the other two, why was this not addressed during the poll nominations? Would it not be better to focus on a game that is more likely to draw more members to play? The whole reason we are even doing the poll is precisely for that reason.

Please forgive me for bringing this up. I take no enjoyment from this and I'm not trying to derail your intentions. I'm just trying to prevent us from making the same mistakes of the past. We all need to learn from our past mistakes and do better. My intent is to help, not hinder.

I do like Squad but I think Arma is better and have always thought so.

We made the switch in order to not be as reliant on the few players we had so that we could play even if everyone didn't show up. It was also an attempt to increase participation but that didn't happen. I pushed for Squad for a couple months but for most of the sessions with Squad it was just me and Flessar. With Arma we were at least regularly 4 players. So in the end making the switch had the opposite effect of what we hoped for. A large part of it was that it wasn't fun for anyone neither for the experienced players or the new ones. We had more fun playing Squad seperatley then when we grouped up.

Squad is a fun game and if that is what everyone wants to play then I'm definetly up for it and will try to lead it as best as I can. However I do prefer playing Arma but I'm willing to go with the game that our community want to play.

I would love to join, but the sandbox is not cooperating with steady connections. Wont be able to participate for a few months.

Yeah, I realized it was poor timing in that regard. Had forgotten you left the civilized world until a couple days after I posted
