I'm really curious what people think. Is it possible for EA to do anything at this point to come back from the brink, or is it time to just let them die? It seems like they may have learned a lesson with Fallen Order (maybe not the right one, but still). They want money after all, and the power there is firmly with the consumer.

What do you think? Is there any actual hope for EA to turn back into an at least decent publisher?

Not sure, tbh. I'm curious about Fallen Order... but it's literally only a trailer at this point. I need to see gameplay and such before I'll even consider buying it, because I kinda do want EA to just die. I want more smaller publishers/devs, for more competition and a drive to actually attract customers again.

So I have about 7 ounces of 117 proof bourbon in me. It's pretty great stuff, and I have an awesome buzz going on.

Personally I feel like we demonize publishers disproportionately. I'm not saying that they don't deserve it occassionally, but I also don't feel that studios are totally blameless. Why can't it be that Bioware, a studio who specialized in storytelling for over a decade, just lost its soul and tried to branch out more and more over years into a perceived marketspace it wasn't familiar with? Why can't it be that Dice a studio who really only does one thing right, just doesn't know how to do more than make an arena shooter and aren't tempted to try to make their stuff more live-servicey so that they can hold audience attention for more than a month? Why is it that people just can't acknowledge that Titanfall 2 was a shit game that threw away so much of what made the first great?

Now, don't get me wrong, I know that EA has a seat at the table here, and that it's really important one, but I am so sick of everyone pretending like a studio itself can't degenerate over time or be a one hit wonder.

Will I ever be sober again? Sure, if I stop refilling my glass. Can EA be a decent publisher again? Absolutely, but they gotta put the bottle down.
