Just flew my Ki-49. Had a I-16 flying 1.2 km behind me. I fired of one burst with my tail gunner and killed his pilot :viking:

On another point, Crave David and I were flying P-40s last night. We were somewhere near 5k in altitude, chasing a Lagg 3 and a I-16. The I-16 does a 180 turn to do a head on, goes past us (we continue straight toward the LAGG), after about 1k he does another 180 turn to get on our tail AND CATCHES UP TO US WITHIN 20 SECONDS.

We were all flying fairly level. There is no fucking way that thing should've been able to do two 180 turns and accelerate (or even have a top speed) to catch a P40 that has been flying straight and level for a good minute or two.

Needless to say we were caught a little off guard and he shot Crave down.

The I-16 and 1-15 was both obsolete by the start of ww2, The i-16 was a shitty to fly when it was first used in the military, it was a very difficult plane
to fly and way way underpowered. plus the pilot could not fly for very long as he would get covered in engine oil.

No idea why Warthunder seem to think every Russian plane was a fucking UFO. The main Russian why i am not playing the game as the devs have given no reason or any indication that the FM on Russians will be balanced.

The Russians did not have a competitive fighter to 1943. Hence why the Germans had aces with over 100+ kills. some knocking the 300 mark.

    Me, AM2M Reisen. Them, 4 P40s.

    So, what do I do?

Hit the deck, and keep twisting as they come in for a BnZ pass. Simultaneously, one manages to not pull up and crash and two others collide into each other while trying to get me (this is after a good 20-30 seconds of evasives). Took down 3 out of 4. Last guy escapes although I got him with a few shots before having to go back to base for repairs.

I've been flying the D3A1 today in the Simulator Battles difficulty Guadalcanal event and I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. I was expecting it to be quite like the Stuka that I'm so used to given its role and appearance but it's really not; it's got a lot more "sustainable agility" (if that's a decent way of putting it) than the Stuka in that it's lighter and doesn't bleed energy quite so much in maneuvers. It's also a bit zippier in the climb and feels a bit more responsive, if a lot less sturdy and reliable.

I got a kill with it but I can't remember what it was on. All I remember was the two P40s following me afterwards crashing into each other while trying to get a gun solution on me, then an Airacobra diving on me, destroying my tail in a few shots then crashing into me. >.>

I consider that to be four kills and I don't care what War Thunder thinks. xD

I also tried it without bombs for a few matches and it makes a pretty decent little fighter for its tier. I was, of course, comparing it to Tier 2 American and Japanese planes and feeling pretty outclassed by them but I had some success in my own small way, like telling pursuers to get lost rather effectively with my rear gunner when they swooped in for what they thought was an easy kill, even if I didn't destroy them in the attempt, helping Zeroes chase enemies and cutting enemies off when I could, that sort of thing. I feel like it only shows its potential in Simulator battles though, since its armament is pathetic in a Realistic or god-forbid Arcade context where mouse aimers will rip you apart regardless of your piddly rear gunner's gun shooting at them in a matter of seconds, whereas simulator battles pilots using a joystick will be less inclined to stick around behind you for long while trying to get a decent shot in on you.

What else, what else... this is pretty much my first experience with Japanese planes and the Pacific theatre (I never fly USA) in a serious context (i.e. beyond test flight) and I'm really enjoying it. I had fun watching my teammates fight after I'd died as well, the style of combat is very different from that I'm used to in the skies over Europe, quite a bit more aerobatic and elegant somehow, can't really explain it. Watching Zeroes fly is very enjoyable too, I'm working towards the hydroplane Zero and then on to the 'proper' one after that, will certainly give them a go although I don't think I'm a fighter pilot, really. But who knows? They might convince me otherwise.

Oh, and as a final note, I'm getting rather good at landing on a carrier in the D3A1, even managing landings without the use of the arrestor hook. ^^ The airbrakes help a ton, and the sturdy landing gear seals the deal.

    Excuse the long post. xD

The floatplane zero is awesome. (and possibly one of the few planes that "may" be able to out turn a hurricane)

Every Zero can out-turn anything, period. Never dogfight a Zero. Evahr. D:

Speaking from personal experience from both ends, the Hurricane has about as much chance in a one on one with a Zero that I have against a swarm of bees. Sure I can swath a few of them down, but they will be everywhere around me. Did I mention these bees probably have the meanest 20mm this side of the Panther?

Glad to see some love for the D3A1.

Out of my minuscule repertoire of aircraft, Val has always remained near and dear to me.
