Aye, play the tabletop game as well as the PC game. I started way back when the beta set had begun being phased out and Unlimited and been released. Great game although lots of changes occur during each release.

I've been playing for a few years now. Love the game although in my opinion they release sets too quickly. I just can't keep up!

Played back in the day from Beta to Ice Age. Then my mom threw away all my cards, and I took a break until M12 came out. Boy, was I depressed after looking up the prices of some of the crap that got thrown away.

You organize your oversized piles of fatass cards (hereafter referred to as "Plane cards") into a fatass deck of Plane cards (hereafter referred to as the "Planar deck").

At the beginning of the game, you flip over the top card of the deck. READ IT. Then apply any and all applicable effects, EXCEPT for those next to the squiggly symbol (more on that below). Keep in mind the card remains active (i.e. it continues to work its magic) as long as its there.

During your main phase, whenever you could cast a sorcery, you can choose to roll a PLANAR DIE (hereafter referred to as the "Planar Die"), which is blank except for two faces (more on this later). Your first roll is free; in order to make an additional roll, you must pay 1 for EACH PREVIOUS ROLL you made that turn.

If you roll a blank face, nothing happens.

If you roll the face that looks like this, you PLANESWALK AWAY from the current plane. Put the current top card on the bottom of the planar deck, and flip over the next card on top. The new card you flip is the plane you PLANESWALK TO.

If you roll the face that looks like the squiggly thing you see on every Plane card, activate the effect that is stated next to the squiggly.

IMPORTANT: These are the basic rules, but Planechase is a CASUAL format. That means you can fuck around with the rules however you like.
    > The rules I mentioned above are for the instance where there is one Planar deck for the entire game, which is shared by everyone. However, you could also have a game where each player has his or her own planar deck. When one player Planeswalks away from the current plane, they flip over the top card of THEIR planar deck to decide where everyone goes (the current plane is still put away as normal).
    > Another rule that I use personally concerns what happens to planes you planeswalk away from. As you can see, the system I mention above has the flaw that it becomes repetitive once you cycle through the deck. To fix that, I use a "Planar discard pile" (unofficial name) where I put Planes we've left. When the planar deck runs out, I shuffle the cards of the pile together and reset that as the planar deck.

Well, that was fun. Now go forth and do magical things in magical places.

Not quite; flipping the card is part of an activated ability that you can only activate during your main phase, so it occurs during the main phase.
