Warmachine/hoards is an interesting game, flames of war was... a little odd for me as everyone that played it around where I live are about 50...

In Warmachine i run a Madhammer army, based around making things go "BOOM". it isn't the most effective army, but it is so much fun.

Warmachines is the one I hear about all the time.

You could even call D&D 4th Edition a "miniature game". Not as easy to play without em.

WH40K, BB, and BT are the only ones I know of. Although I've heard only good things about Warmachine and Hordes.

Yeah, warhammer is probably the most famous games and i expect most people in here have heard about BT.

Everyone speaks good of the game they play cause they want more people to play against

Well as a fellow Warmachine player it is fun and decently tactical (depending on what army you play it goes from "hit things hard" to "need to play your units like a accordion") I made the bad choice of picking Pirates as my army... It is a synergy army where each unit is very weak on it own but when they work together it is brutal. Sad things is that in tournaments people tend to focus not so much on taking things out as disrupting synergy causing me to loose a lot of time repositioning. Still a bloody awesome game and while it is not really cheaper then for an example GW you at least don't need as much models and it have giant robots... What more can one ask for.

I also used to play Dark Angels Space Marine back in the "no retreat" days... Nothing like having a army of walking tanks that refuse to run away. Bad thing was they also refused to fall back. =P

I have owned/do own mini's for Warhammer Fantasy (originally Dark Elves and now Skaven) and Warhammer 40k (Chaos Space Marines.both times with a trial of Eldar in between) both of these I started when I was about 13 but all my original minis are broken/lost  but recently started collecting and trying to play again. I have played Warmachines no Hordes when it was first released. I had gotten the initial mercenary unit with Magnus the Traitor. Those I ended up just giving to my brother when I moved stateside though. Was a fun game and I do still have my first edition rulebook(I know really out of date) but I know how to play all 3 of these games(think hordes is with Warmachine) if anyone is interested though Id have to find a warmachine/hordes rulebook set.

I'll admit not as nice as actually playing but a lot more fun then not playing.

I have not played in a bit, due to moving, but my wife and I both have some Warhammer armies. I have Fantasy Dark Elves, 40k Tau, 40k Grey Knights..and my wife is building her Fantasy Tomb Kings. We both also have and play Malifaux. It's a really great game! It can be a little complicated with some of the abilities and how best to use them, but it allows you to take some of the randomness out of your tactics. The world is also an exciting setting as being a sort of steampunk gothic horror mishmash. But I have really enjoyed the game, the dark, and its fluff :)

If anyone in the Ohio area plays any of these and/or knows of a good club or store to go to please let me know!

Just looking at where you're located on the member map it looks like you are pretty far from Centerville, but if you are willing to make the drive Epic Loot is a really awesome LGS. Pretty decent number of WHF and 40K players, and a pretty big Malifaux group as well.

As for me, I play WarmaHordes (Cryx/Trollbloods) and Infinity (Ha:crying:islam/Ariadna). Plenty has been said about WarmaHordes, so I'll just mention some stuff about Infinity: it is awesome. Games are small, usually about 10 miniatures per side, with combat being quick and deadly. It uses a really interesting simultaneous turn mechanic, where when the active player performs an action with a model, the inactive player's models can potentially react to it. I highly suggest people at least take a look at it, especially since all the rules and army lists are available on their website for free.
