I already know the answer to this, but is anyone at all going to be playing this game when it comes out on tues?

I know the answer because of the many online groups i;ve been in over the years, i've pretty much been the one person ever interested in NFS games on PC ;)

This one will be different from the past ones, EA has made Criterion Games (burnout) the main devs for the NFS franchise, so it should be better

I think I will. I have been pretty dissapointed in EA lately (The Run = Crap, Hot Pursuit = Crap), but I loved the old Most Wanted i was literally obsessed with it I played until I broke every police record and finished the challenge series. After I had triple 100% I was finally satisfied :D

I used to love the underground and most wanted series - I may have to look into this

Well i've played around in it single player and they've stayed true to form for need for speed games, it's not like any of the others.

It's definitely got a Burnout feel to it (in a good way), and the way they've integrated the autolog into it is pretty cool. It's a free-roam type of racing game where you have the whole city open to you and you find races that way. before starting you can see the top times in that race by your friends and the goals dont change even if one of your friends has a better time. Like if the race's goal is to get first place, you dont have to beat your friend's time, just beat the AI in the race. You do earn more money/EXP for beating those times, but they arent needed to upgrade your cars.

You also dont have a 'garage' of cars, they are scattered around the city and as you find them you unlock them for use. Each car has it's own set of maps and challenges and there are general challenges that you can use any car with. Some of the challenges include things like getting the fastest time past a speed camera, jumping through billboards, finding shortcuts (security fences), and pissing off and being chased by the cops, and losing them.

I havent tried multiplayer yet, so i'm not sure how that is. I wanted to learn to drive the cars before getting a bunch of losses on my record ;)

So all in all i would recommend it if you're into NFS games, but i would wait for a sale if you're only mildly interested. While it's on Origin, they do manage to have some decent sales occasionally. Which reminds me, feel free to add me to Origin: ParticleMan420

I feel like the latest Hot Pursuit was a very respectable iteration in the NFS series. It felt like it kept true to the original NFS3: Hot Pursuit and added things that made it more interesting. It's an arcade racer so there are elements that are definitely arcadey. For instance strategic spike stripping in order to skip difficult turns (lay a strip right before a difficult turn, when the cut scene from a successful hit is finished, you're on the other side of the turn). I felt like it was very fun but it's an arcade racer. I know when I first loaded it up, as the intro rolled I was like "Oh shit this is going to be terrible". I was glad to be wrong. Ended up getting the Platinum PS3 trophy. Custom soundtrack was nice too. Of late, NFS Shift 2 has been the best. I think it gives GT and Forza a run for their money.

Yea, this one is a lot like hot Pursuit (since it's the same devs), they just moved over to the new frostbite engine, tweaked the physics some and made the world map more like a burnout game. Like instead of closed tracks with magic invisible walls you're just on the streets and your GPS has the race route. It's definitely and arcade racer, but it's pretty good so far.

I also like the shift games, because they are NOT arcade racers and are pretty hard, at first. I heard that they're working on a new Shift game, but that was before they gave Criterion control of the franchise. although i doubt they would stop the development of it since it's a completely different dev team that makes them

tried out multiplayer for a couple of minutes, and it's an interesting setup. instead of lobbies and servers queuing up for a race, it instead connects 16 people to a server, drops you in the city free roam style and has a series of events like races set up that people participate in. Some of the events are team based where you need to take out the other team, or straight races where you need to just finish first, and various other ones.

i havent really played long enough to form an opinion on MP, but it seems fairly interesting, even though it's a little confusing at first.

i would still wait for a sale to get it though, although i'm not upset from buying it full price
