    Hi y'all!

I'm writing this on the "windows on screen keyboard" since my trusted Saitek Eclipse have died, horribly. And sice that old keyboard has worked flawlessly for five years, I have NO spare! :unamused:

So I need a new keyboard ASAP so I can continue playing Epic Pony Adventures. Any tips?

This post took ten minutes to write. Not including this line.
    Or this.

    Help me my brethren!

I'm going to put up the qpad mk-50. Its a entry level mechanical keyboard, which basically means that you get a mechanical keyboard without all the bells and the whistles, which puts it in a slighly lower price area. There are more elaborate keyboards in the same series which get you backlighting macro key etc.. mk-80 mk-85 and so fort.

But the mk-50 is more than enough for me. I will never go back to a non-mechanical keyboard. Also, check out this thread

I personally dislike my Lycosa razer keyboard.

If I had to do it again I would not buy a razer keyboard.

I have wireless mouse/board (cause I game on a reclined couch using my TV... biches.) and it's worked for... over 2 years now without fail (a lot of batteries, though)

In the past I've found going with comfort over bells and whistles is crucial. Your keyboard might be better than mine, but my hand doesn't cramp after using it for a few hours.

I actually prefer using my razer nostromo game pad over a keyboard. Way more comfortable.

    You make me sad.

Used my N52-TE for years. Then I upgraded to windows 7 which belkin does not support, now the commands seem to stick and I am unable to game with it anymore.

Well I DO need to write text also. I work as a journalist and copywriter.

I have actually never used a mechanical keyboard on my own rigs. After writing ten pages in one session I imagine them being wery annoying. Sound-vise.

Or doesn't the mech-keybs sound as much today, as they used to? Compared to the nonmech versions?

That's depending on the type of switches you go for, I've never felt annoyed with the cherry type switches the mk-50 comes with as standard, with that said there are some types of switches that sound a lot!

Honestly i think gaming keyboards are useless as long as it har WASD its enough for me. It rather look for things like sound, pressing resistance and comfort in general especially since you write a lot.

This right here. I have been wanting one for a while and just got mine today (as pictured in the PC Building/Components sub forum).

The noise that comes from a mechanical keyboard is either something you love or something you hate. I think it's worth it (and actually enjoy it) because the key pressure and response is fantastic with the Cherry MX Blue switches. I used to have a couple of the old mechanical IBM keyboards but found them to be too big. I'm a big fan of the "elegance through simplicity" of the DK products. They are pricey, but completely worth it if you're a stickler for a good keyboard that is about function over flash. Hell, I got the one that doesn't even have the key faces. The only keys I don't really know the "feel" of the positions of easily are the 5-8 keys across the top. I'm a touch typist though. I'd argue that I could get a few more words a minute out of this thing simply by how it feels and sounds. When I'm in the zone I can generally hit about 95.

I use the Logitech G110. I don't use the macro keys much, but the other features like lighting and the ability to disable the windows key rocks. I'm thinking of buying the G510 for work - I use the Macro keys a lot when coding or filling out paperwork.

That looks awesome! I actually had plans on spray painting my entire keyboard black before it died so this design tempts me. Although...my wife would kill me.

The G510 or G110 looks to be the one for me. I need to get one first thing monday morning so I'll be forced to buy in a physical store for the first time in ages. I hope they have something good in stock.

I'M BACK AMONGST THE LIVING! Or the typing, atleast. Darn cough, cold and fever's got a hold on me like a kuritan snake strangling my every breath.

I went with the Logitech G105. Feelt good, looked ok and didn't cost me to much. Thanks for the support and help!
